I have a new optima yellow top battery. The Toyota terminal when tightened all the way slide off of the top of the positive post.

Is there a different terminal that is known to work better on the small sized post?

I thought so too. Tightened all the way and it slides off.

More than likely you'll need a new battery terminal on the end of the wire. stop by a battery store and they should be able to easily camp a new fitting on there. shouldn't cost more than $10.00

It would seem like it would be that simple. I've went to Advanced and O'Reilly. Neither of them have terminal that went tightened all the way will fit securely on the positive post of the Optima.
I have never encountered this before with a red top, very bizarre.

Well the positive post is about 2mm larger diameter than the negative. Are you sure you have the correct terminal to the correct post?

Remove the bolt and cut away a little bit of the clamp 😉

SAE automotive battery terminals are a standard size with positive being larger diameter (19mm) than negative (17mm).

According to the Optima website, they do not make a group 27 or 34 with reversed terminals like other manufacturers.
On an FZJ80, the positive terminal is inboard. Be certain your battery is not reversed before you let out the smoke.
