Never tired of pics! Just make sure you brace everything real good when you start cutting large chunks off, but looks like you're ready to make some good progress!

Looks like you caught that tub just in time! Mine had a lot more rust on it, but in the same areas. I ended up going with a Aqualu tub & that was a lot of work. I can't imagine how much effort you're in for. Not only will you be the center of envy with your sweet FJ40, you will be the best sheet metal welder in 3 states, and your local FedEX office will buy YOU a christmas present! Great thread!

Did you do a cost analysis on buying new tub vs this route?

I did do a cost analysis. I have spent 1200.00 including shipping on body panels (2 rear quarters, 2 outside rockers, 2 inside rockers, and 1 rear seal complete) and as it turns out there are at least 2 panels that I won't be needing. They came back from the Sand blaster looking patchable. So to compare that to a new tub its far less than half the cost and I will have a nice factory looking interior. I really don't care for the cheaper tubs that don't replicate factory look. For me it was Pilgrim Tub or redo what I have. I enjoy the work and have always wanted to learn to weld so it was a great excuse. So far it hasn't been very difficult. Time consuming to some degree. I feel like there are a lot of people on this forum who exaggerate about how hard this is. That unfortunately deters some from taking this on. I could be wrong! Ask me how I feel about it in a few days!:p So far it has been fun and I feel like it has a quick return. The truck goes from a rust bucket to a solid truck in a few days. :bounce:

Looks good man. I just put mine back on the frame to make sure things stayed in place while I replaced the rear sill and quarter panel. Maybe you work faster than me, but all this rust repair has taken me months....of course thats in 2 hour chunks. You'll be ahead of me in no time. Keep up the good work.

Nice PPE by the way.
