Heather and I are sitting here watching the Sunday morning news and the big story is 20 dead and 40 some wounded in a club in Orlando last night. The smaller story, at least in our living room is, this does not come as a shock.
We have come to a point where this is no longer shocking. That in and of itself is a bit shocking. Pretty scary that we have become this complacent. Anyone else feeling this way?

That is some sick s***. I just read a brief, biggest gay bar in Orlando. I hope it was not A religious killing...

It's worse then that, new death toll is 50, and 53 wounded. Shooting was seven miles from where I slept last night.

I can try to get you a manufacturer if you'd like, that truck was finished before I started working there.
I've been in the Orlando area for almost 3 weeks, at another hospital with my mom. the shooting was 5 min from one of my relatives houses, and they have pulled resources from my.moms hospital tp help downtown. my mom feels guilty (while battling several life threatening issues herself), because she was given a unit of ab negative blood earlier in the week, which is what they were horribly short on here.
Few observations from an Orlando native...Orlando has always been and will be a soft target. too many places and ways to get here, and a very diverse environment. quite honestly, it's amazing something hasn't happened here sooner.
Regardless of the fact it happened at a gay bar, it would still be a devastating event.
I hope they are able to gather info from the suspects house, and return the favor with some porkbombs...
On a positive note, I've been amazed at the outpouring here. they've had to turn people away and ask they schedule blood donations. I've told the nurses here, if they can get a phlebotomist up to my mom's room, I'll give a pint. they said it's ok, they have plenty right now.
If you are able, give blood. it might not be used here, but it can be used for someone. as always, hug your family, and tell them how you feel about them, because in an instant, they can be gone.

I've been saying this for awhile. I've avoided downtown as much as possible since the Paris shooting for this exact reason.
The local news has crossed over from meaningful reporting to showing text message streams from people who were inside the club...they really need to give the families respect and privacy, not say "we are waiting outside the police meeting facility, and will let you know if we see anyone that looks like a family member coming in...."
I need to add this to my truck!
