Destroking would be accomplished by swapping in a crank that has a shorter throw. This will reduce the compression ratio, torque and power output in N/A form but makes the engine more boost friendly. A shorter stroked engine will rev higher and faster. The 1FZ already has more bore and less stroke in stock form. These folks are cutting back the stroke even more in an attempt to keep the engine alive under tremendous boost pressures. Destroking is obviously not a mod you'd want to do on your typical land cruiser. The typical 1FZ owner would benefit more by increasing the stroke, not reducing it. Generally, engines with less bore and more stroke are lower revving and produce more torque at lower rpms. A good example would be the F / 2F. Here's a stroker kit for the 1FZ that actually increases the stroke (and bumps volume from 4.5 to 5.0 liters):
Hit up the Seattle Cruiser Heads xmas party last night.
Tof hosted it at Torfab so got to check out a few builds he's got going on.
Lots of us got some seat time in the 2.8 Cummins 62. Drives really nice with the tune but he is still working out the bugs on the 6 speed trans getting it to stay in boost when shifting up. When it falls out of boost it feels like a stock 3fe. When in boost you can feel all of that 500 ft/lbs pushing you forward.
Dirty Santa gift exchange was awesome and I walked away with a cool ARB tire inflation kit. Tried some Norwegian Spirits i'd never had before that Tor had brought in.
Here's what a love child of a Toyota xcab and a Chevy lumina apv must have looked like...
24 years ago, a week before Christmas, I hit a patch of oil and antifreeze at the curved bottom of an interstate on ramp, and rolled 3 1/4 times. launched backwards off the right rear, and hit on the drivers side a pillar. pillar violently repeated that roll a couple more times, and ended up on the passenger side. roof was pushed down 11 inches, my head pushed it back up a bit. I got out, walked around picking up my stuff until the whambulance arrived and back boarded me. I remember all the tests at the hospital, and going to the lot to get my stuff the following day. I dont remember the following 2 weeks. I had a major concussion, banged up shoulder, and cuts and bruises on my legs from getting them caught in the parking brake handle, gearshift and transfer case handles. I should have died in the crash. The following day, two guys perished in a very similar wreck in a ford truck.
I've got a Christmas ornament we made from a piece of the taillight. that x cab gave its 4 month old life for mine.
Changing jobs is unsettling for anyone, for the most part because you are leaving something familiar for something new. Like anything else, think it through, weigh out the pros and cons and make a choice. Don't be nervous, just cautious.
Yes it is normal. I am keeping the same job description but switching territories to be closer to home in January. What I know in my current territory is that the systems and people in place make amazing things happen. The new territory is a complete unknown in regards to organization and the people/personalities I will run into. Starting over again, whether it’s in a similar job or a completely different field is always a challenge. I wish you luck in your job search and career choices.
So we buy a bit too frequently on Amazon at our household. As in boxes show up, and we have no clue what it might be; certainly we are not alone in this disease. This week I added a new addressee, Land Cruiser Porter, and told my wife not to open as this will be used for gifts I purchase for her...and the odd item I may buy for the truck.
Thanks everyone glad to know I’m not the only one haha but outside of my current job the army is the only career I’ve had so I was a little intimidated got to talk to one of shift supervisors and I’m gonna go for it if I get the interview. Long days longer time off either work 4 10s mon- thurs or 3 12s fri-sun. Keeping my fingers crossed either one is better than 12 on 2 off and the 2 isn’t always guaranteed lol.
