Don't buy it if you even care about mpg. 12-15 mpg is about the usual range.
The motors are made to go over a million miles, with enough extra material in the block to be serviced 3 times around 300k intervals but they do often go past that mark before needing any service. Mine started using a little oil about 270 k I ended up rebuilding it at almost 300k. It currently has a little over 345k miles on it. No plans on even getting rid of it.

Better not plan on it :)

It's a 1994 fj 80 , my 4runner values at around 10-9 K, and this landcrusier will be used more for DD around town, I'm a college student but I do on the occasion offroad, it does have a lot of aesthetic issues. My biggest concern is the amount of miles in the engine, I am unsure what the life expectancy is on them. And the mpg average

FZJ80, not FJ80. Pedantic, I know :P

Like Eric said, longevity may or may not be an issue, it really depends on the maintenance history this truck has had. When was the last time the head was serviced, when was the last time the front end was serviced, etc. A $4000 budget can get some of that out of the way if you get the truck, but there's no guarantees that this FZJ80 will be more or less reliable than the 4Runner you currently have.

From an offroading perspective, the FZJ80 is the clear winner in my book. The mileage will likely be the same as your V8 4Runner.

Right now I only get 14 mpg with the v8, surprisingly but if it's the same I'm good. Thank y'all for the help, I'll Keep you posted on my decision

Warning, new driver on the roads today, give plenty of way if you see him. Now my have to buy a car for my baby boy. Need to bring our Club official negotiator Dave roadstr6 with me.....

Hey y'all, haven't been on here in a while since selling my 60 series, but now I'm back because of a potential new purchase, a buddy if mine has a rough fj 80 for sale with over 300k miles, however mechanical it is in amazing shape and has triple lockers. He is interested in my 2003 4runner with a v8 with 240k on it, he is offering me the land crusier and 4k$ for my truck, I'm not a expert on the fj 80 series and wanted some help, what y'all think

what is the ultimate reason for wanting to do this?

the 4 runner is a vastly superior daily driver, and just mild offroading you dont need lockers, much less 3.

You know what you have in the 4runner, you would be buying a much older truck with unknown history, that would likely need quite a bit of work.

all you want to know about the 80s can be had in the 80 section here, and has been covered to death.

What an incredible way to explain net neutrality, and why it's important. I don't like BK, but I absolutely love this.

BK Explains Net Neutrality by making people wait longer for whoppers

Maybe BK's next commercial can be all about the money that can be made by moving your corporate HQ to another country. Lessening their US corporate tax burden by moving to Canada...I'm sure they wont mention that little nugget, instead, trying to stir up a pot that they have no skin in. Wonder if they will be moving back since the tax laws have been reworked?

^^ @lumbee1 you need to step your game up to stage 3 lol.

I hate Burger King but I love that they did this. Most folks don't know what Net Neutrality is or how it affects them. If NN is full reversed, our internet bills are going to sky rocket just to maintain what we have right now. I work in IT and even my co-workers really don't care about NN and its importance.

I hear GTI's are fun.
yeah...nooo..... I made that mistake, my middle son got to drive my older 2007 racing GTI to school. I had APR stage 3 and would detune it to factory. Big rear sway bar, brembos, supersprint muffler... the works. On the weekends I would turn the tune back on, swap wheels, schnorr harnesses, grab the helmet and off to the races. He drove it for about 18 months before going to college. Then I got a 2012 GTI and had GMP in Charlotte do the conversion again, and sold the 2007.
Even though it was never "his car", he has been ruined for life. Nothing has ever been as good as his "first car". Now he has a 2017 golf, with stage 1, which brings the power to the standard GTI level. HP addiction is hard to give up....

So baby brother, of course, would love "a car like big brother had"..... NO, not going to do that. Never again.... well... okay, maybe. We are looking at a 2013 golf this weekend, a 2007 honda CRV, and if Mama wants to have a 4th car to drive around, a 2015 Golf TDI.

We did look at a CRV and a mazda3 sedan yesterday, he liked both. The CRV has tons of room, and for him that will make a difference, that and head room for his tall frame.

odd that BK would waste time/money trying to explain a topic that really won't affect them, to People who just want a sub-par hamburger. They are decent at that.

How do you know it won't affect them? Are you assuming that they don't use the internet because they're in the burger flipping business?

Net neutrality affects every person and business that uses the internet, directly or indirectly. If burger king has to pay more in internet service for each restaurant to ensure that their credit card transactions go through in a timely manner, then their prices are going to go up.

Virtually (ha) everything uses the internet. Our cell phones (calls and SMS are routed via IP in the cell provider network, not just our data), credit card transactions, toll booths, financial markets, stock trading, insurance, hundreds of thousands of jobs, everything. Our economy is now built on top of computers, and therefore the internet. If internet providers are allowed to charge more for traffic types they think they can make more money off of, then everything we do will become more expensive, directly or indirectly.

Whether or not you (the royal "you", not you specifically) support net neutrality, please make an effort to at least understand it.

Preach on brother, it will affect almost everyone in the US, in a negative manner, unless you own Comcast. Hotel keys, my last few business trips the hotel has smart key, on my phone! Its pretty cool to use on Hiltons, but it is using the web....
Technology, those who dont understand it, will end up paying more and getting a lot less.

Meanwhile on the other side of the world...
