I'm not talking to folks that don't already know but Sunday night is due to be brutal cold in most of the state. 8 degrees here in Greensboro. Be sure you don't crack a block.

EDIT: Sunday night/Monday forecast now down to 0 degrees.

And if it's an indoor pet be sure to extra spoil it by turning on the electric mattress pad

My indoor pets have heated beds as well as occupy the majority of my king size bed.

Outdoor cat ... well a picture tells it ... outdoor house with headed sleeping pad

Our dogs and cat form a semi circle in front of the wood stove. They are warm to the touch

I cant believe that they have to repeatedly say on the 11pm news that if the power goes out, not to use a charcoal grill or generator indoors...and spent the first 5 minutes showing empty shelves at harris teeter and food lion.

i did provision a bit at lunch....deodorant, TP, some sargento cheese sticks, and some pinnacle vodka. I guess that should cover me for the weekend.

We have had a few whoppers and those basically have been ingrained in our minds. Most of them were bad ice storms. The kind you don't get power back for weeks. Up north it's just snow mostly. Lose power for a few days and it really puts a damper on thing. Plus we have already started running out of gas down here.

I kind of like the idea of losing power. Nothing like having an excuse to use the generator that only gets used once in a blue moon.

Didn't think of it that way I guess I have just not experienced it. I do believe ice is worse than snow though ice doesnt really happen in the north its always straight snow. I am going probably going to park the LX or 80 at the bottom of our road though last year when it snowed the neighbor who usually plows the roads bull dozer broke a radiator hose and we spent the better part of the day jerry rigging it so he could get it off of the road.

The downside is if you left any gas in the gen from the last time it was fired up, you spend the next 3 hours tearing the carb and tank apart to get all the varnish out. Hopefully you hadnt yanked your shoulder out of its socket trying to start it with either the fuel cutoff closed, or the kill switch in the off position. Those items are teaching moments for the neighborhood, because they learn all kinds of new vocabulary words.

Will be the first cruiserless snow in sometime. We shall see how the 4matic performs. Youtube is killing me with the russian videos. Russians are great for pushing the limits.

Be thankful you have 4matic. My wife had a C240 (2001) rear wheel drive with "traction control" it was HOPELESS. Like completely and totally useless in the snow.

I have no plans to go out unless necessary. I need a cruiser back. ;<)

Last year my wife drove our 88 BMW 528E with LSD through Balsam Pass in a snow storm with no issues alot of other cars going in the ditch. Germans generally do a good job with traction control and building cars for snow. At least BMW does when you buy one in Germany they automatically come with another full set of winter tires and rims.

I bought a car cover at a garage sale shortly after we moved up here, and used it to cover my wifes dodge avenger during the snow/ice storms. We dont have that car anymore, so I put it on the gx470 this morning. It doesnt totally cover it, and it looks like a tank top on a fat gurl, with the gx-'s muffin top pokin out the bottom.

I'd be interested in hearing from you how it does just to know.....

You think the neighbors will be suspicious if I walk up with my snowboard and a ladder? This maybe the storm.
