So I purchased an fzj80 with a 2.5 ome lift, coils look terribly rusty, not sure if that will actually affect performance or longevity of the coil. Whether it does or doesn’t, I don’t mind replacing them but I was wondering if I could pair the lift with dobinsons coils. If so which coil would it be best for stock load or maybe 110 or more pounds in case I end up mounting a winch? Thanks!

Those are fine. You can pair with dobisons, you just need to make sure you get the right length for the lift (do you have extended bumpstops?), following by the proper spring rate. Their website or cruiser outfitters @cruiseroutfit or the suspension thread in the FAQ sticky would be the first places I'd look to find what you're after.
Great looking rig btw

You need to drive it more.

Cobwebs are UNACCEPTABLE!

Thanks! I’ll check out that faq thread you mentioned! I’ve heard good things about dobinsons so I’ll probably get a set of coils, I probably wouldn’t switch the kit out entirely any time soon. Thanks for your help!

No problem there. If you don't like the look I'd remove and clean them up, then repaint.
Yeah, I'd say the same thing. Just clean and paint them, or if you want/need to change the ride height, you can get new coils.

Chat with one of the mud vendors (e.g. ^) and provide your current setup and planned upgrades, and they can recommend a setup for you. Be honest with your description of what you need and you'll get an idea of where your bank account will be at on completion.

I ran OME coils and springs for years. Moving to Dobs (I went with the dual rate) and 'good' shocks made a huge difference to ride quality. Of course it was a bunch of $$ and somewhat of a rabbit hole that required more $$, but the end result makes the 80 a nicer riding vehicle when things get bumpy...

The coil surface rust is a cosmetic issue - what's the condition of the shocks (all 4 of them)?

cheers,
george.
