My 1978 HJ45 had the "H" diesel which was very reliable but somewhat gutless. The 3B would probably be a definite improvement.

Is there a special reason toyota put a piece of snot plastic pipe from the air box intake pipe across the rad to the lhs and not have a short plastic pipe from airbox intake to behind the rhs front indicator/blinker like on majority of the 7x series
Isnt it better to have a cooler air intake temp than hotter:hmm:

engine cranked over but did not start and too damn cold to persue further.
wasp nests through out the truck
no outer sheet metal worth talking about
seats are 'okay' but the suspension is rusted solid
tires are okay, rims are rusted
Mike is a good guy and a pleasure to meet and have lunch with, if anyone ends up in Meaford area then i would suggest meeting up with Mike for lunch at the Leaky Canoe resturant.

cheers
Wayne

So in your opinion it is nothing more than a "parts donor" or it not even suitable for that role?

Someone buy it local and I will give you what you paid for it for the dash, heater and steering column for my FZJ79 build. Hell, I'll buy the truck for the $300.00 and give it to you if I can come over and strip the dash, heater and other small parts that I need for my FZJ79 build. I'm only 11 hours away... Short road trip for parts that are hard to find in the US. PM me.

it is ... how can i say this? ... VERY 'nature installed' air conditioned.
you shut the door and the whole side moves in and out.
i put my foot gently on the rear cross member and it collasped.
we had to use pliers to remove the wing nut on the air box.

i might be picking it up for parts, maybe. Mike and i are working on a deal.

bugger!
nah, before. if i would have done it after then the whole frame would have turned to a pile of rust particles.

It was nice meeting a Cruiser guy in Wayne & Mitch today.
They were great guys, and its aways nice to meet friends in the area. But talking to Wayne has me Cruiser crazy and my wife won't like that.
Been looking a Cruisers for sale since he left.

ah, i have a way with women.
i turned my ex and my present wife into Cruiser chicks.
introduce me and let me work my magic,
hell, by the time i am done she will even pay for it.

So in other words you would utilize different "people skills" with her than you do with the rest of us on the Forum.:)

oh, i can be a charmer when i need to be ...
here i can be myself.

of course, i am still being completely honest with the female gender, i just have to watch my language and appeal to different ... points ... with them.

yah, you would have enjoyed the trip.
we saw a FJ55 on the way back home, tons of bondo but looked good from 10 ft. not many of those left in this area.
cheers

Is that a FF rear? Did all BJ70s come with FF rear axles. In the first picture is looks like a wheel cap and not a FF. Wouldn't the hub stick out more?

iirc, all bj70 and bj42 had the ff rear, it doesn't really stick out that much, but a semi-float doesn't stick out at all. it is hard to ell from the picture, but it is most likely a ff.

I have never seen any FF rears on Canadian BJ70s or BJ42s.

it is a semi float rear diff with 3.70s
i have the old white 70 still sitting here from when i pulled the PZ out. i think i will see if i can get the engine running and if so then stick it into that one.
it will make a nice DD for my hired help, he is struggling to get by and the fuel prices are killing him. since Mike is treating me well then i might as well pass the good will on to someone else.

here are a couple more pics:
