Very cool. Was it turbo diesel? I see rear tire carrier, side marker lights, headlight washers, awesome LAND CRUISER lettering down the side, clear side corners which might just be aftermarket, the land cruiser bumper skid plate thing a my bob, chrome mirrors, giant over window thingies, and front mud flaps. It also looks to be right hand drive.

Im not sure, I was wrangling two kids away from the park lol. it was a pretty nice one though! I was hoping they were on here somewhere.

So sadly with the loss of LUNA last year I’d been on the hunt for a new exploring and camping rig. All over the map per the norm. Really hunting a 100 but found myself climbing the budget ladder last week and ended up grabbing a new wagon to play with.

What I have learned is that if you double your budget you’ll see at least twice as many rigs lol. This just happened to be the first and only I looked at.

Many thanks to @Diff Kraken for the patience and communication to make an unplanned purchase go down mostly smoothly. I mighta made him wait out my moments of indecision lol. Thanks again Nick.

Kinda sealed the deal when I saw he’d named this big old gal LUNA as well. Sometimes life whispers and sometimes you listen.

Really happy she went to a good home. I'm looking forward to seeing Luna out on the trail. Enjoy her!

I picked up a nice lower mileage 2000 Hundy back in September. Nothing crazy cool, but a nice stock ride with only 105k miles on it. Added some tires and have been going through all the baseline stuff all winter. Pretty darn comfortable ride overall. Hope to start some upgrades after we travel with it for a while. Would have loved an 06-07, but this one fell in my lap. Love it so far!

I am new to Raleigh and would appreciate any input on a good offroad shop that can take a look at my suspension. Moving from a house with a big garage to a condo where the HOA outright bans any work on automobiles is a change of pace.

Welcome! I definitely recommend you show up to one of the monthly meetings here in the Triangle; stop by and say hi. They happen every first Wednesday of the month. As for a shop recommendation, @jrmudder92 could probably guide you in the direction you'd want to go, but TEQ Customs (off Atlantic Ave.) has been posted here a few times. They work on 4Runners and Tacomas, but have also done work on 200s.

The HOA seem like nice folks. /s

Hello ONSC,

I'm a new member from Charlotte. I wanted a land cruiser for as long as I can remember and finally purchased in March 2023. I bought a 1996 LX450 (312k) from a neighbor who owned it for over 20 years. It took 12 years to convince him to sell it.
He took very good care of it, came with a decent maintenance record and zero rust. It's definitely my favorite car to drive and has become my daily driver.
Mostly stock except for ARB bumper with winch and Stedi lights.

Work done:
ABS pump rebuilt
Fixed water leaking into floorboard (drains were clogged)
Valve cover gasket
Dash bulbs replaced
Interior bulbs changed to LED
Hood support replaced
PCV valve
All fluids
Head gasket
Lots of hoses, sensors, pulleys, belts and seals
Cylinder rings
Timing chain & sliders/guides/tensioner
Water pump
Spark plugs & wires
Slee mirror tab fix
Slee headlight upgrade harness
Gamiviti seat gear fix
Sunvisor replaced
ARB front bumper with winch
Stedi auxiliary lights & switch
Brake booster
Windshield wiper pump
Rear door actuator
Added cup holders & WeatherTech cargo area cover

Plans:
new seat leather/foam - need to purchase covers thinking from CruiserParts
touch up paint

Glad to join this community.

I had never heard of STEDI lights until last week when they popped into one of my social media feeds. I was surprised by the cost but they seem REALLY bright. Are you happy with them?

I am happy with STDEI lights - very bright, they feel solid, 5 year warranty and the price was decent.

@Tar Heel 1 Come on out to the Charlotte-area meeting this Thursday!

Decided that I'd rather buy a rig that's modded and baselined rather than go through the process of building up my LX450, so now I have a "new" 80 series. I'll drive 'er up to the meet on Thursday, unless someone wants to test drive the LX450 that I have for sale!

Spent last Saturday on a shakedown cruise up NC-105 / Kistler Memorial Highway, and then back down Table Rock Road and home to the Charlotte. Linville Falls area was absolute chaos on a holiday weekend Saturday but the rest of the trip was not too bad for crowds.

I bought the rig from Fairfax, VA, so I took a little side trip through Shenandoah National Park and stopped for a couple quick hikes. Nice drive, but those aren't even the best mountains in Virginia (Grayson Highlands all day) and the Blue Ridge Parkway outshines the Skyline Drive.
