Anyone have interest in 287/75-16 BFG KO2, set of 5… around 20k on them, likely less. Coming to the hard realization, despite the right look, my 100 is not about that off-road life. Really, we just turn highway and snow miles. I could just ride ’em out, but for a local sale I could also swap to a better option. $400 firm.

also have 2001 LC OE rack, all bolts and caps, $80.
Can you get me a few pics? Do you mean 285-75-16? thanks

How much would you offer for some LX wheels? Wheels are in pretty good condition, and I can take a picture later this week. One has a flat, the others have good tread left.
Shoot me a pm, not looking to spend a lot, when you say one has a flat, like it doesn't hold air or it has a flat spot?

i need one....for my spare

sorry, I was the 285/75 poster, but did the math on a swap and despite not being right for me, swapping to a set of 5 tires that suit my uses better would be like a grand all in, even with a few hundred for these, and it is just not worth that to me to fix. Sorry to prematurely post!

Maybe not the best fit for this thread, but here goes:

I'm headed to the 70 Series meetup in a two weeks and would like to know how to drive a stick beforehand. Would anyone with a manual vehicle be willing to spend a morning/afternoon either this weekend or next weekend showing me the ropes? In return, I'd be more than happy to fill the tank and pay for lunch/dinner/pizza, or spend a few hours wrenching, or maybe something else - I can be flexible.

Willing to learn in pretty much any vehicle, I'm not trying to street race or do anything stupid and the last thing I want is to get in an accident or damage someone else's property. My driving record is 100% clean, I've never gotten a speeding ticket or even a parking ticket. I've already watched a few instructional videos and practiced shifting on junkyard vehicles. Plenty of friends and relatives have offered to teach me, but none of them own manuals anymore... which is what brings me here.

If I'm being unreasonable, let me know!

i was in your place at one point. i wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but i bought the car without being able to drive it. had a friend drive it home while i followed behind in my auto toyota. a week driving between Alexandria and Tyson's got me trained up right quick :p

i'm headed out of town this weekend. sorry.

the hardest part is learning where the engagement point is on the vehicle. and each is a bit different. and the shift pattern since R can be anywhere. once you get the feel for the clutch friction point, the rest is just shifting by either sound or RPM's and knowing roughly what gear you need to be in to accelerate.

modern cars with drive-by-wire and traction control greatly make driving easier, as they almost refuse to stall or roll back on a hill. i didn't learn on one of those :D

I'm probably not going to buy a 70 (or any other manual car) in the next 5 years - I can only have one car and I'm not getting rid of my 100, so I can't follow the typical internet advice to get the cheapest manual that runs and drives. I'm mostly just going to TN to figure out if I actually want to own a 70 in the long term, and what ownership in the US would entail. If someone were generous enough to offer to let me drive theirs, I don't want to have to say "sorry, I can't drive a stick", haha...

That is exactly how you should reply.

The last thing you want to deal with is explaining to a stranger why you drove his 70 into a tree.

"But, I thought that pedal on the left was the brake!"

Climbing Gaffs - comes with two sets of unused spurs. CLAIMED

Need to climb trees or wooden poles? These are what the pros use when they forget to bring the bucket truck. I acquired these from a retired pole climber who kept them for doing tree work in his yard. I was in much better shape back then and had no man-made body parts.

Local pick-up or mud ship only. Asking $10 because a price is required on this thread but open to offers or trades.

So $10 for an experience to have to get man made body parts? Sounds like a deal!

The gaffs had nothing to do with needing the new body parts, but the new body parts have everything to do with not needing the gaffs.

Ever seen the Lumberjack pole climbing competitions? That could be you with a set of these!

The pads protect the inside of your ankles and lower foot. The spikes mount near the instep (note the mounting boss at the top of the gaff on the left. Getting a good bite into the tree trunk requires you to bang the inside of your ankles and lower part of your foot into an unyielding object. The leather pad is designed to protect your inside ankle bones and the Achilles tendon to lessen bruising (note the operative word lessen, not prevent).

With a climbing harness and little practice (and some conditioning) you too can be building tree stands without having to lug a ladder into the woods.

Warning, going up is easier than coming down unless you set a belay, or take the express to the ground (not recommended).

Are those gaffs spoken for?
I will take them.

I have the exact same pair. Mine came with a sharpening kit when I took them from Supply 25 years ago!
