Something a bit different.

The USS Alabama allows Scouts to "Camp" on the ship overnight.

If the door is open you have the run of the ship 5 pm to 7:30 am.

The next day you get the air museum and USS Drum.

It fantastic. Truly amazing to do.

I hooked my Eno on the hooks the sailors used to sleep with.

The boys were in 2 rooms. The adults in another. I hung the Eno out in the main hall and lounged until my Ambien kicked in.

Did that too!! COOL experience for sure.

Quick trip up to southern ARK this weekend with @gxgonz @NELA Mongoose and another buddy from Monroe (jeep guy...). Headed out from Hot Springs around noon Friday after meeting @Bomar for lunch (thx for the firewood John). Not much trail riding on this trip, mainly just forest service roads and scenery.

Arrived at Blue Hole around 3pm on Friday, setup camp and spent a relaxing afternoon taking in the sights. Burgers for dinner. Tried to sleep in the Eno but too cold.

Up early on Saturday to see an awesome sunrise over the lake. Jason cooked up a great breakfast, and we rolled out around 11. Stopped by Little Missouri Falls and had lunch there before getting back on the road. That's a cool little side trip that's worth doing for sure. Wound up at a creekside campsite about 8 miles west of Albert Pike rec area. County Road 82 is a gravel road that runs all through that area, and it's an awesome drive. Lots of great views and scenery. Supper was awesome...steaks, potatoes, followed by s'mores.

Quick coffee (well kind of...thanks to @FJ60Cam i now have to have a quick espresso or latte in order to get moving, and now so does the wife, and everyone else wanted one too so an hour later i got my coffee) and breakfast Sunday morning before heading out.

Short and sweet, great trip

My trip this weekend belongs in the camping thread way more than it does the Krawl thread. I was not much of a participant there, I never made it out of the campgrounds either day I was there.

My trip started with a real nice drive up the Natchez Trace from Tupelo where I made my last work calls for the week.

I stopped at all the sites, took pics. Drank a couple beers.

Some claim the Tupelo to Alabama section is the most beautiful stretch. It was nice. I had been there before but this time I really was in slow motion. It was nice. I really like the section by Tishomingo and Bear Creek.

When I got to Hawk Pride, the Cottonland crew was out at a cool place for dinner so I set up my Eno under the Foxwing on the lee side of the cabin they were in.

Tolleson's Pile at sunset.....

There was a bunch of young guys from Atlanta with decked out 4Runners next to us. They had all the toys on those things.....

This was the first time I used the tapered extension. It's a nice wind break.

The next morning I shot the s*** with the guys, hung out with E in his motor house then struck out for Sipsey Wilderness to explore for the day.

I decided to come in on the west side and work my way around the winderness area checking out all the marked/open roads and hiking to some waterfalls. I also wanted to see all the camping areas that are vehicle accessible for future trips.

This was an old shelter and spring, the first thing I found. Pretty cool. Just down from it though was a super waterfall that is an easy hike right off the road......Kinlock Falls.

Lots of signs saying no jumping off the rocks and you can bet your ass if it had been warmer, I would have been jumping off the rocks. This is one superb swimming hole.
