I have been trying to attend your annual BRP ride for the last few years but work has prevented me every time. Looked in the 2012 event thread and noticed that the dates are still not confirmed. I have a strong ppossibility of making it this year and would like to know if the date has been settled on. Also any info about the ride would be great. I would be coming up from Florida since I am no longer stationed in NC.

It's going to be the weekend of the 26th. That's Clemson's away game with Wake and we all know we don't need to see Wake beat them. I might bring the dish just in case.

Plan is to have an early arrival crew hit black balsam Thursday night and get us a good spot. Main group comes in Friday. Sat morning we will get up and head to Pisgah Inn for lunch. We will split from there into two groups. One will head back to camp and one can head to Mt Mitchell. The Mt Mitchell group will disperse from the mountain. The camp group will be camping in the same spot sat night.

Super. Barring travel upsets I could do this.
I want to come back that week for Moogfest in Ashevegas Fri and Sat night Oct 26-27.
Last time I stayed @ Todds in Arden but I could use some camping after this luxurious beach and travel year.
Back to the woods, enough of this sun and salt and relaxation. I want my clothes to reek of wood smoke and burnt meat.

Black Balsam 2 nights in a row. Hope you bring some ratchet straps to tie down the rigs. Last year our 80 was rocking like you loaded quarters in the machine at those cheap hotels. 4 of us tucked into the 80 was tight.

I'm tentative for now. Might just go for 1 night at Balsam and then head to one of the camp grounds for the 2nd night, will have to see. Balsam is beautiful, but camping there can suck if the wind is up.

It can be brutal the wind there. For some reason worse than I ever saw at Whee. Must be some sort of wind tunnel effect around there.
I know I'm going to put down good lashings on a hvy duty tent.
The one time I've been there a campfire was a liability. I've camped around there a good bit but always in the woods before.
I thought maybe it was just that time but apparently it's not just me.
I've got nothing to prove.
Could be one of the earlier camp spots before the end of the road would make more sense wind-wise.

I would love to go this year but truck will not be ready. Wind was brutal last year.

The two times I've camped it wasn't bad. As your soon to be fearless leader I will have a plan and a backup plan so don't worry about the wind. Worry more about getting your ass off the computer and out on the trail. Who's got some pics of past events?

I don't remember you out there camping with us Steve :hillbilly:

I was about to type that ;) And as much grief as Jay gets he was the only one who made it up the BRP with my family. :bounce:

Hopefully you'll make it up this way Del.

I still have to get back to the States but planning on doing as much camping as possible this fall. I want test out out some new gear before our trip down to the yucatan in December.

Hopefully I can make it. like I mentioned before I have been wanting to attend this event the lsat couple years but it has not worked out for me. hopefully this will be the year.
