This has turned out to be quite an event. I'm looking forward to meeting the other 80s around town.

Since this is sort of growing in size, what if we turned more toward the BBQ concept rather than eating at a restaurant? With this many people, it might be easier to socialize if we could bring a couple of grills and coolers and set up at some of the picnic tables in the park (called Santiago Regional Park or something like that) as was mentioned earlier. A sort of B.Y.O. Meat, Drinks, and a dish to share kind of event. Any thoughts on this idea?

It's called O'Neil Regional Park and it's maybe 1/4 mile from our meeting place. The thing is, Cook's Corner is a "have to" visit place if you have never been there before. I like the idea of the BBQ, just playing devil's advocate. Rose's Cantina has room on the patio for 20 people or more. Cook's has room for a 100 or more. At O'Neil there is a large dirt parking lot in the southern area of the park with wide open grass, bbq's benches, restrooms, etc. See Google Earth Map. Horseshoes anyone?

I think a BBQ is a great idea. I can bring some nice Armenian Shish Kebob, and my trusty charcoal grill.

Can we get a mod to set up a poll to vote on the post canyon run eating venue.

1) BBQ at O'Neill Park.
2) Beer and burgers at Cook's Corner
3) Margaritas and tacos at Rose Cantina

I have not been to O'Neil Park in a couple of years so I might swing by and check out the set up and make sure it looks good. Reminder: There is a $5.00 entry fee at O'Neil Park.

I was holding out because of work scheduling but the stars are lining up and it looks like I should be able to join the SD contingent coming to this. It will be great to meet some of you I have not met. :bounce::bounce2:

Sure steel some of my thunder for representing the BIG SD. :flipoff2:

Someone has to come with you to make sure those front bearings don't fall apart between SD and Holy Jim.:flipoff2::flipoff2:

Knock on wood, that will not happen and is bad mojo to even mention it. Along with the blessing of the motorcycles at Cook's Corner we could have a blessing of the Birf job. :hillbilly:

Ok call me lazy and forgetful since this has become a longer thread.

Are we wheeling before eating and chillin'?
Because that would affect my voting in the poll - drinking margaritas and such you know and driving up/down the mountain!

Thanks for the quick run down so I can vote.

Definitely eating and drinking afterward. I have to reiterate that Trabuco Canyon can hardly be called wheeling unless it has recently rained. There are some narrow side trails but there isn't much that can't be done in an old Toyota Corolla. Having said that, it still a fun and scenic trail.

If anyone is planning to run to the top of Santiago Peak from the Orange County side you'll have to go to Silverado Canyon and hope the gate is open at Main Divide. You can call the Silverado Fire Station at this number for gate status. (714) 649-2645

F.Y.I. If any of you are into RC planes there is a very cool airport out there and some excellent pilots.
