Keep the seats. I’m going to run SR5 four runner seats just like that from a buddies 40 upgrade. They will cradle the fanny just fine.

I'm pretty sure I can make em work, and they do seem pretty comfy. I'm positive there are better options out there but I will run with the same "use what you've got" logic behind the powertrain choice. That's going to be a recurring theme on this project.

My saga has a lotta run what you brung. Three rigs into one. Lots of extras to hopefully fund the madness a little bit at a time. Too bad you are so far away because I have an extra hood in grey.

That all sounds VERY familiar. You can still have neat toys without a bottomless checkbook you've just got to be more creative, less picky, and not on a deadline. I appreciate the offer, I've actually got plans set to go pick up a hood and some other goodies next weekend from another awesome mud member so that'll check the hood off the list- along with several other things that hadn't even made it to the list yet

@Homey15 if the fiberglass cap off a '76 will fit your top, I've got one for ya. It got painted by a PO, but is otherwise in great shape. PM me if you're interested. I'm in Kansas City.

Dicked around this afternoon and pulled p.s. components off of parts truck. Had a little water in the return line/cooler, fluid in gearbox looked good. I'll purge it out tomorrow for good measure. Definitely woulda been too lazy for this mod had the manual box on the 40 not been seized into a rusty brick

Laced into some more body pulling, you can see the piss poor alignment of the door to the b pillar. A pillar is laid back and b pillar is laid out. Gonna have to pull the top for this, Gantry crane is my new favorite tool.

It dawned on me as I set up to do this that this part actually could be useful to someone, someday. Maybe. Either way I had no body tools at this locale and I figured a lot of people also may not have (own) body tools...but everyone has a BFH, blocks of wood, and ratchet straps. Disclaimer: do not do this with ratchet straps-it's dangerous.

Put some stank on b pillar(do not do this) with ratchet strap. Take block of wood and BFH and at the obvious crease at the base of the bend proceed to persuading it back to flush, this will help to "set" the pull and keep everything closer to where it oughta be

On to the cowl. Put some stank (don't) on it with my official body pull ratchet straps, need to close up this gap at the cowl/windshield base. Take BFH and block o wood and go to persuading. Sometimes block of wood doesn't get you a straight shot- get creative.

Very clever job of getting the wood against the firewall to move the metal. You have made tremendous progress on a tricky job. Good work!

Yeah, some serious straightening herein. Love it. What’s your thoughts on keeping the heat at bay when/if you grind those panel welds flush to keep from reversing your “(don’t 😝) ratchet strap pulling and BFH hammering?”
