Congrats on the Nightshadow. Most of the 80s around here are either Moonglow, Antique Sage or Emerald. I like having something that is not as common. The downside is that the blue clearcoat doesn't seem to hold up well to sun fade. My hood and roof looks pretty similar to yours...Well, almost 6 years later and my wish came true. Bought a 1996 Blue on gray with lockers and 257k miles. A rust-free Texas truck with original paint, or lack thereof, and no accidents. Plan is to baseline all maintenance, then paint, then interior, then suspension. Nothing major beyond that, Im not gonna really wheel this one, maybe just some overland/camping type stuff. I want to make a cherry out of it.
Your rig looks awesome. Is the black round the edges something you added or did it come that way?Holly Springs NC.
This is a photo from our Grand Canyon trip in 2017. 247K miles on the engine. We stopped in Cookeville TN and woke up to the Smokey Mountains.

If you were to repaint the same color, does the clear coat still have problems? Or is it more a function of the type of paint / clear coat that they used back in the 90s? I am looking ot get an 80 series and want to ideally go with the Nightshadow, but trying to determine if the color itself is the cause of the clear coat failureCongrats on the Nightshadow. Did any of these come with the Oak interior?
Quite a few did. In fact, I think I’ve seen more of those than gray interiors.
Your's is a good looking rig.
Appreciate it. I wish the paint looked that good in person, but it’s still technically Nightshadow. Roof is oxidized pretty bad and the clear coat needs some serious polishing.
Meh, 'patina'.
My Moonglow Pearl is starting to do the same thing. I live in the Sunbelt, bound to happen.
Yeah it's going to be kind of bittersweet when I line mine. I love the nightshadow pearl, but the trees must love it more lolI’m not worried about it or I would paint it. It’s my trail rig and pinstriped to the steel in some places. Why spend the money ...
The previous owner installed lift springs, removed the flares, and added the raptor liner to the bottom. The raptor liner has been impressive to say the least. At least 9 years old and still holding up very well. Without the flares and with dark paint, my truck gets dirty very quickly when going offroad. I still have the flares and I've considered reinstalling them when we finally get around to painting the truck.Your rig looks awesome.
