I won't be able to make it due to a busy holiday schedule. Roger, sorry to hear about your surgery delay. I hope they get you sorted out soon.

So I have another question
Not necessarily. That is not officially a North Cumberland trail. Its there and gets occasionally ridden but for the most part North Cumberland trails are mild.

I am reading the trail map and it looks like we can only ride the non-ATV trails. Is that correct?
If so, it looks like we are limited to trails 1, linking to 4 linking to 6 linking to 13 linking to 19 linking to 24 and 25.
Is this correct?:meh:
I still cannot find any youtube videos of non-ATV stuff at royal blue. Can anyone else weigh in?

A

Don't worry about it too much. I have never had a bad time in Royal Blue. It covers about 250,000 acres I think. There is a lot that is not mapped. A couple winters ago we spent 15 straight hours and didn't cover as single trail twice.

I believe you are looking on the wrong side of the interstate. We are getting off at Caryville and going west

Is there a trail map link? I cannot seem to find it.

Yes there is but it opens in google earth and I have not been able to copy the link here on my I phone, I 'll try on the puter when I get home.

On the down low, I will be able to communicate properly on our trek in the coming week. At $60 for an entire kit - radio, battery eliminator, external antenna and external mic and USB cable, it is hard to have an excuse. All Amazon Prime - free two day shipping.

Speaking of radios...

Are there repeaters out there? If not what frequency(ies) will y'all be using?

I got a handheld radio a while back, but I'll need to program the frequencies at home before I leave.

^^^^^ glad you brought this up I need to try and program mine as well.

I am not seeing any nearby repeaters other than Knoxville.
Use of repeaters require having a Ham Lisc. if you catch my drift...

146.460 is the frequency STLCA has been using.

make sure you have an external antenna to mount to the truck. I have a cheap mag mount 2m/70cm for about $30.
The Baufengs are good for the money, and a good starter radio.
What radio did you get? I got a cheap Baofeng after seeing them at the Rubicon.

:hhmm: :poof:

Now if the weather holds. Right now it looks pretty bad. Freezing rain???

generally the STLCA group has not used repeaters the times I've been on the trail...so you would be good with short range comms with the stock setup.. Of course an external antenna would be "shizzle" mag mount antennas on the roof don't last long though..

I switched to putting the mag mount on the hood. I still get great transmit/receive and the tree branches don't knock it off.
