We are going to head up Hwy 41 in Jasper to the top of the mtn and then go in that way. We hope to save some time by using more pavement and less trail in the dark. Does anybody know the turn-off road?

Enjoy the water... you might want to consider what side of the creek/river you are on...prior to getting to the camp site. As I recall there were about three ways into that place and I may be wrong but I think one of which was on the same side as the camp site...I think there is a trail that runs right into the camp...off a fairly steep hill and I don't think that particular "path" was too far off the pavement relatively speaking...vs some of the other paths in.

Of course I don't know the trail names or land marks as I've been generally lazy and played follow the leader up there most of the time. Looks like rain for there most of today and tonight. Enjoy....hope the fire stays going, with that many people you probably could rig up a tarp or two to protect the fire.

I got leave home tomorrow at 5AM... see "yall" next time.

Has anyone heard from the crew? We heard about 2 hours ago that the Georgia crew was still in there...

Was wondering the same thing. They got a lot of rain last evening and I was curious if anyone had made it out yet.

I'm friends with @ugamurph His wife got a text from him that they were surrounded by the water and might be spending another night. He texted from someone else's phone, not sure who's phone.

Was worried about that. I hope everyone is safe. Wonder who has a phone with coverage in that area.

I'm not sure. I do know that the guys leading the trip have been going back there for years and know their way around. I'm sure they are fine, just didn't anticipate the water level blocking all the routes.

Yeah, they are in good hands. It's practically Andy's back yard and a few others have been back thru there a number of times.

High water was a concern, I am sure they are all fine. Just hope everyone has plenty of fuel and such. Also sounds like we should be looking forward to hearing some good stories for the next campfire.

If the water rises after you're in, you could definitely be locked in.

A few years ago (2011?) was a high water year. We had to come in from the top and camp by the creek's edge and wait for it to drop. It dropped two feet overnight, maybe more.

We came across an abondoned Chevy pickup that had floated downstream from the trail crossing that supposedly the occupants had to spend the night in and wait for a rescue.

Hope they packed enough food and beer for an extra night!

Yea I totally believe they are fine. I am more than sure they have enough beer, John always over packs in that department, fuel might be another story. Look forward to hearing the stories.

EPIC... Crew is almost out of the woods!!!!
