So I wanted to replace the belt that came with the 40 that was obviously not OEM and too old to be trusted. But the new fan pn 99343 11265-77 is just a tad too long and I get a squeal on start-up and even can notice some slippage. It is adjusted to max length to answer the obvious question. Is there another fan belt I can get that is a better fit?

I did a quick search on the part number and it came back as fitting an 81-84 Land Cruiser. You didn't list what year yours was or if any parts had been changed.

Indeed. It would be helpful to know what the vehicle is.

I'm going to ass-u-me a 1975 FJ40 as that vehicle appears in his sig-line. If so, the part number on the sleeve is correct for the application. Does the number physically on the belt match that?

If it is a 75 FJ40 the alternator is incorrect. That may or may not have an impact. What is the diameter of the pulley?
This one is correct.

Note: If you look carefully you will see the number on the fan belt is 90916-02047. That number is replaced by 99343-11265-77.

Note that 90916-02047 / 99343-11265 (L=1275) is indicated as US spec.
While EUR, GEN and CND are listed with the reference 90916-02044 / 99343-11060 (L=1065).

If I remember correctly Alternator on US spec goes on the RH side of the engine with the 2F while it stays on the LH side on most of the world? Not sure if this is the reason for the different length...

Alternator Belt (P/N 9932301040) works on ours. Another option is to ping @ToyotaMatt for a new alternator tension bracket?

Sorry I haven’t checked in and did not mention that it is for a 75 FJ40

Confirmed that the belt does match the packaging.

The alternator pulley diameter seems to be about 3.25”

I believe the pulley on our 1975 pictured is about the same. How does your alternator adjusting bracket compare to the one I posted?

I'm referring to the shape and mounting points.

I'll repost this angle. It's difficult to tell from the angle of your photo but it appears that your bracket may not be as long as this one.
