New to me 2011 200 series - looking for recommendations on build...

As a general direction for modding, I'm really liking where Expedition Overland is going with their 200-series. It depends on your usage, but for overlanding, they generally go the direction of mods with a good balance between more function/protection, while keeping compromises like weight to a minimum. In their videos, they constantly bring up weight. And I do believe it is their experience where they've realized that too much weight is a compromise to handling, efficiency, and durability for long distance travel.

The CBI stuff looks really good as well.

Well said, and as mentioned in another thread, what I wouldn't give to have that CBI front bumper. It's low weight and great looks would be ideal. I agree though that when considering an overland/off-road rig, reducing weight is always an advantage as it reduces wear/tear and improves durability over time. When I win the powerball, and I am confident that I am going to win, I plan to reach out to CBI to have them custom fabricate pieces for my rig. Of course, I just have to get those 6 numbers aligned first :frown:

I was planning on winning the Power Ball too...

...til I realized that since I don't buy tickets, my chances go down a bit...but only a BIT! ;)

Yet another reason us ATL people need to get together.

I used to have a shop in the ATL up until 2002 ;) South Cobb Dr. Now on the "Left Coast"...

I use Craig Automotive in east Cobb, he has worked on my last four cruisers and he is honest.

He will only work on Toyota products.

He has some arb shocks and springs for a 200 if you need a lift.

Cheap

Ok maybe I'm biased, but if you're going to go the route of over the top suspension, IMO it's worth it to look into swapping the front with Tundra parts.

Not going over the top, just planning on a good, armored, trail rig, similar to what Steen is running.

For those with the rebuildable shocks, whats the time between rebuilds?

I think Icons are 50k miles on paper...

How many miles if you instead drive on roads? :flipoff2:

Ya, that's why I said, "on paper..." I'd imagine that mileage number is actually all over the MAP...( :rimshot: )

50,000+ miles on Icons - here's my experience with rebuilding Icons
If you want the rebuild table that Icon has provided you can look at it on their website under the service tab then scroll down - for more of an education on the subject - environment plays a big role. Seals get broken down due to chems on the road, salt, dust you name it.
Icon told me the had a customer that reach 80,000 miles before rebuilding his set - environment and usage plays a huge role.

I wanted to avoid shocks that would require rebuilding. Didn't feel like dealing with pulling them off, reinstalling, downtime, shipping etc... At first the options seemed pretty limited but then I came across the Koni RAID 90 thread from a while back. I paired them with the King progressive raised comfort coils and I'm getting it all installed next week. I had to source the shocks from Europe and the springs from Australia, but about a week after I ordered them I saw @bjowett say he was going to start carrying the Koni's again. If you do some reading on some Australian based message boards the Koni/King combo seems to be held in very high regard and with the strength of the dollar right now the prices (even with international shipping) aren't too bad. Maybe something worth looking into.

Nice to see another 11 owner :) .. I went with the OME heavy kit all around as I added sliders and ARB front and rear bumpers with winch and tire/jerry can swing outs. The ride is a little stiff at first but you get used to it. I have 50k+ on the OME kit with zero issues and I have wheeled the heck out of it - good luck man, looking forward to seeing the build thread
