Finally able to spend a few hours this weekend at the shop. The focus right now is to get the driveline ready to be installed. Planning to start with the spare motor as I buggered up the threads on the crank on the original motor while taking the big ole nut off. Shot the front axle and springs with Eastwood Chassis Saver this morning. Yesterday was spent glass beading and painting the transfer case linkages and parking brake components.

Suggestings on cleaning up the transfer case?

i did the solvent and brush first with a few picks to get the cracks clean, then taped it up good and sandblasted.

Glad to hear that you got some time in the shop.

Engine is back on the frame. Started installing the rear disk brake conversion and decided to weld up and re-drill the caliper bracket on the passenger side. Didn't like how the caliper pins were lining up. Also stripped the paint off of one rear door, the side aprons, and the windshield frame. On Wednesday everything goes to a local body shop for final prep and paint.

Did I give u my old caliper mounts or did u use different. Most of.mine I had to drill and tap myself.

Probably explains why it was off then . Was it torch cut? Cause that was hand made a long time ago before stuff like that was available. Way b4 plasma cutters and sites like this.

They are well traveled. Made those before I ever met you. That kinda explains how old they are doesnt it.

Installed the surfaced fly-wheel and new clutch. Stabbed back in the transmission and transfer case and started re-assembling the parking brake. I'll be replacing all the gaskets and output seals now that the assembly is off the ground and easier to work with. Also started trial fit-up of the ford shock towers.

Tub is at the body shop for last sheet metal repairs. Once he has the hot work done I'm going to put Monstaliner on the underside of the tub and up the firewall. He'll prime and final paint after that.

FYI, going to blow monstaliner on in the next week on Foo. Note: not roll. Everything I have read about larger jobs is to brush on tight spots then blow it on. I plan to put on primer first, then wait 24 hours, then monstaliner. I have been sanding with 120 grit to get some adhesion points.

Will get you any advice that I gleem.

I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out!!

Got some courtside seats available…. sweat equity pays for it….

I've decided to delegate the monstaliner task to the body shop. He's planning to use the same procedure as you are. Will let you know how it goes.

In that regard I need to make up my mind on the color for inside - tub sides and floor. I don't think I want to go with black.

Body shop is making progress! Should be painted by the end of the month.

Stopped by the body shop today. They have epoxy-primed 3 of the doors and decided to do a little more clean up on the 4th. Once everything is epoxy-primed they are going to flip the tub and apply the Monstaliner on the underside for me.

Once that is done they'll shoot the top coats, hopefully by the end of the week, which means I have to make my color choice. They are making spray-out cards for 4 different PPG colors from '77-'78. Decisions...decisions.

Love the color.
