I sprayed on. Really worked great. I also sprayed it on foo inside. Spraying raptor is easy and fast.
Just get the same color mixed up without the binder. add binder to raptor tintable. I got a clean gallon container and dumped all the tintable and color in it and mixed it all up then put it back into the raptor bottles to spray with Deshutz gun.
On the gun, found a trick for easy clean up. Cover it in painters tape. After your done, clean as normal with laquer, then peal tape off. Makes clea up really slick.
Only trick if you have epoxy, is for a chemical bond, you should spray within a few days of last coat of epoxy. Look at the instructions of the epoxy, to find the time you have. If not, you will need to scratch it up. with all the body bumps, you will likely cut through the primer to metal. Then you need to add primer again.
When I did under the 40, I scuffed it all up, then mixed two part epoxy and used a paint brush to cover the metal that was exposed. Waited 24 hours open time on the epoxy, then sprayed raptor. The raptor texture hid the brush marks.
Had some friends help me transport the tub from the body shop to my garage. Body mounts are installed, but it appears the kit didn't include the ones for the support in the arch just behind the rear axle. Hmmm.
I will check out my kits to see if there was an actual piece there. I was thinking that I just cut a piece of rubber and used some Christmas trees (expanding plastic T's)
I contacted Energy Suspensions this morning and are sending the missing mounts and retainer pins to me. They were very easy to work with and are sending them to me at no cost.
Moving back to the shop for painting. Hoping to get all of this parts top coated and the inside of the tub lined with Raptor by the end of the weekend.
Finally able to lay down the Raptor bed liner on Wednesday last week. After a little issue with tint I ended up using 3 of the 4 bottles in the kit, and covered the top side of the transmission hump, gas cover, in addition to the interior surfaces of the tub. I still have to line the front fenders and bottoms of the tranny hump and gas tank cover, but am planning to use black for those.
Other good news is that the body shop finished up the painting of everything over the weekend. The bad news is Shannon has seen the bill.
Really, really, really, really tired of painting. Finished the seat components and stock rims over the weekend. Picked up the last pieces from the body shop (it'll be beans and rice, rice and beans for the next few months). Time to start building back up. No wait, found some more under-dash pieces that need scuffed ad painted. Woo Hoo! I'll use that to kill some time while I wait for a rather large order of seals, weatherstripping, turn signals, and running boards gets sent from Specter.
OEM running boards, front door gasket and seal kits, tranny hump seal kit, misc rubber/gaskets/seals, front turn signals, some more odds and ends that I can't recall right now.
UPS also delivered the re-built power steering gear box. Looks brand spanking new.
