Where there were "rivets" showing I will be using allen head cap "bolts" with a nut on the inside of the frame.
McMaster-Carr
Once tightened down i'll tack weld the threads to the nuts and tack weld the allen head hole in the outside so it should appear OEM and never come back off.
BUT.. Temporarily I will bolt stuff back on until I determine if I want to build a new rear bumper or go bumperettes.

ANd yes I painted the areas getting covered up. Why do you think I had to remove the area? Cause it was covered up and not painted! Bubbled / swelled between the layers of the frame.

Pulled the engine and nearly stripped off everything, shy of the axles & steering that can be unbolted. Planning to sandblast tomorrow and repair rear of frame,

Now your catching me dangit

Doubtful that I'll catch you. Rolled the chassis out and started sandblasting. Kept looking at the axles, and finally decided that they might as well come off now, as they'd be eventually pulled to install new bushings in any case. Ended up using the cutting torch to "encourage" the bushings to let go of the spring bolts. So now it is officially a frame-off resto-mod. Nothing left to u bolt from the frame now.

Ran out of light today before I finished the frame. Will wrap it up tomorrow and hopefully take care of the miscellaneous items I want to blast prior to painting.

Amazing what is under the rust. Can't wait to get it painted.

Man does that look fun. What wonderful weather we have been having such that you can play outside this time of year.

Keep up the progress.

Dork we're painting in Kentucky would rather sandblast

I will do my best to keep your brother in line out here

So? Welding on frame this weekend?

Butt transplant on the 40 frame welded up. Need to clean up the welds a little more before painting the frame next week. Props to Hadley enterprises as the parts they sent fit up nicely. Everything is just snug-tight bolted up. I plan to take everything back off, prime and paint, then bolt it back together with socket head carriage bolts (thanks for the idea Erik) to mimic rivets.

Continuing to inventory parts and pieces in the boxes that came with the rig. Biggest find yesterday was the rubber gasket that fits between the hard top and sides. I had budgeted in the $$ to replace it, so that puts about $350 back into the contingency fund. So far the only piece I know to be missing is one of the hinges for the rear corner windows.

Paint arrived today from Eastwood so it looks like I'll be shooting paint this weekend, I hope. Still need to finish a little clean-up on the frame before coating it. I'm planning to use Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating for the rails, then Chassis Black in a satin finish for the frame, axles, and miscellaneous.

Sorry I missed your call today but I expect updated pics this weekend perhaps you can catch up hope to do some assembly Sunday on my day off
