When I first told Shannon about this she said no way. I told her I was going to find out her asking price so that I could post something here. When I told her how much it was she said go get it.

Our agreement - finish her master bathroom before laying a finger on the 40.

I'm taking her to Cancun for a week next month, but that was planned a few months ago and therefore doesn't count.

Ironically, I had mentioned to her that I really wanted a stock cruiser a few weeks ago. I wasn't looking when I found this one so it was just one of those "meant to be" deals.

Time to get started. Old tub was removed yesterday after Cooper and I removed the remaining hardware. Will be replacing/repairing the rear cross member and gussets.

Congratulations on the start of the project. Great pictures of Cooper helping the old man start the build.

I wish that there were more pictures of my kids helping me back a few years ago -- so take pics!!!

Cheers!

Update

3 hours of pressure washing with the Hotsy nearly took away 33 years of grime. Frame rails were full which is typical. Fortunately everything looks good except for the rear cross member and gussets. Next up will be to remove those and install new ones.

Any por-15 tatoos for the week?

Yes.. I'm tired and sore.. I learned a lesson tho. Let the epoxy co-mingle it's juices for the designated timeframe. It offgassed and has itty bitty bubbles giving it some texture.. Typical Male I didn't read the Freakin directions (again).. and since i've only had one day this month free I wanted to make progress..

It's a frame, it's protected, it's clean and it's black. And it's back in it's designated space in the garage on tires again..
I will loan you the "undercoating" gun, worked great but i'm wearing a lot of POR speckles on the touch of Unexposed skin.
TAPE WRIST to gloves and a full face mask would be good. The little touch of skin between the hood of the bunny suit and the goggles had some flecks on it and my chin has specks on it.. Also don't paint in pj's without socks on.. My ankles will be a different color for a while. And yes that is a mental picture, one that Colin got the pleasure of seeing in person.. Bunny suits are warm after a while..

So this still has tech for chris's project, here's the gun you will be borrowing
Undercoating Gun and 2 Hoses & Bottle

I might shoot the inside of the frame again, (have a little left I need to use).. .. that was the hardest part of the whole project.. That and climbing inside and under the frame OVER and OVER again.

Decided to go a little deeper with the chassis work. Will be replacing the last foot of the frame completely. Then I'm going to sandblast everything and build back up from there. Any suggestions on what bits should be taken off before blasting?

First question... is this your car for 5 years or 20 years?? If the answer is 20, then everything off. I would pull every bolt out that you can... even the springs and axles. Sandblasting is easy if the frame is loose. You can get to every part of it. Having it apart also makes it easy to do the axles and springs.

also makes it easier to spray if it is loose.

Since you posted up you have parts for the lx450, I have a stange vibration at highway speeds. I originally thought it was sheetmetal, but noticed today that it seems like it is transmitted from the transfer case. The high/low gearshift vibrates very bad when not on load.

I am going to pull the front driveshaft to eliminate front end issues, but wanted to get your two cents......

Let me know when you will be in KC tomorrow, and I can try to arrange for a testdrive if you have time.

Wow! so much work / activity here makes me feel like working on my axles over the break! :)

Atta Boy. Was working on the same exact thing yesterday.. Well.. Very similar, just some welding and grinding on the rear xmember.
Your gonna catch me very quickly unless I step it up.. Air chisel and air punch made short work of those rivets on the frame.
Start on your frame, and after the first of the year I"ll dig in the parts boxes and see if I have some of the bushings you were looking for. If I don't, I think Jobe picked up the wrong set of bushings the other day. Wish I were closer I have some rims that need to be blasted.
YOu order primer?

I have like 4 things being mailed to the house. It's driving me nuts. I got myself all Flustered yesterday by starting 4 projects at once instead of staying focused. My A.D.D. was kicking in.. I did exactly what I always tell others NOT to do.. I did manage to dig out the majority of the parts needed to do all the different projects.. Which is not a small feat condsidering all the boxes I had to go thru to find the parts!

Haven't ordered primer yet. Still haven't made up my mind on how I want to coat the frame, so I'll tackle the repairs, pull the engine/trans/txfr and make up my mind. Body mounts arrived Friday.

Walls for the paint booth are done - just need to be stood up.
