New Product, 1FZFE fuel pressure test adapters

For those of you who (like me) are eagerly awaiting your fuel pressure testing port. There is this little gem you can leverage when you finally have it in your hands:

You can force the fuel pump to run for testing. In the diagnostic port jumper pins +B → FP. This bypasses the circuit opening relay and runs the pump continuously. This allows you to
  • Check fuel pressure
  • Bleed the fuel system
  • Diagnose pump wiring
Something to look forward to ;-)

@cruisermatt : Have you tried (yet) to hook up a can of pro-level fuel injector cleaner ie: via the Schrader valve to clean the fuel rail and injectors directly (ie: using a fuel injection/automotive rated valve after disabling the fuel pump)?

What? Just put it in the tank bro

I was referring to using something like the OTC 7448A Canister ie: pour in a pro-grade injector/upper cylinder cleaner, pressurize the can, connect to the adaptor, disable the fuel pump, etc

Here's a more hands-on video (zip ahead and start watching ~1:30, he's obviously not working on a FZJ80 but the basics are the same)

getting there..

Genius!

I'd like a list of stuff you're developing, so that I can take them all off my list of stuff I intend to develop.

I'm sure a lot of folks out there would love that list!

What's the cost going to be on each of these kits?

Very happy with Matt's product. 90 degree adapter allows you to run a gauge. No more guessing what my fuel pressure is now.

Would recommend.

@Kylackey : Can you watch the second video above (start ~4:20) and give your opinion if there's enough room to attach the OTC Canister hose (connector) to a schrader valve (with or without a 90 degree elbow) onto the test adapter as installed in the engine?

I'd bet with the Schrader valve alone you'd have enough room. The adapter port is closest to the plug wires when I tightened it down.

The only reason I went and bought a 90 degree adapter is so I could angle the fuel pressure gauge up and it wouldn't interfere with the plug wires.

I'd be curious how well that thing would clean injectors. I had my injectors cleaned and bench tested from RC Fuel Injection and have had no issues. But I had the manifold off the truck already... and the engine out of the truck.

The injector cleaners that are sent directly to the fuel rail are generally more concentrated than what you'd get from pouring most injector/combustion chamber cleaners into the fuel tank (ie diluted) but not as good as ultrasonic cleaning that can break up hard deposits IME. Sending the fuel injectors out to be ultrasonically cleaned, back flushed, new screens installed, with documentation of flow, spray pattern, etc is the Gold standard but also a lot more work so IMHO it's worth a try sending the concentrated cleaner directly through the fuel rail for preventive maintenance and/or if there're performance issues related to the injectors. If that doesn't help then you can pull the injectors and send them out to be tested and cleaned ultrasonically. Agree, if everything's already apart I would definitely send high mileage injectors out to be cleaned.

FWIW

At this point should we just assume that @cruisermatt is taunting us?
Hopefully next week. We have about ten kits ready.
