Rained today all day so I didnt get much done. Ignition switch was being flakey so I took it out and pulled it apart and its pretty much toast. No biggie got another one comming from another mud member. front bumper is missing so im going to build a new front and rear with a swing away tire carrier on the rear.

First thing I'd do is that those useless southern pride stickers off, then get to work on it! :wrench:

Interior is pretty much shot. But hey! the rear window works he said! I figure a year to a year and a half to get it where I want it.

Whoa, buddy! She's not just a land cruiser- she's an IRON PIG. To do it right, you'll need to invest- the rest of your life! You'd better sit down w/ your :princess: and hammer out "how it's gonna be!" :hillbilly: (yeah right! as IF.) Welcome. Nice rig!

Fine pig!

Nice pig! But I hope you didn't pay full market price, since it appears the seller did not supply it with the usual rust..... Happy resto and happy trails!

Oh it has rust! Pulled the mats and carpet out of the back last night and could see the ground. Pulled out the plasma cutter and getting ready to cut it out and replace some metal. Doesnt matter though, as long as my 40,s running Im just gonna take my time so it stays enjoyabe and not a burden. If it looks like its gonna be to bad the further along I get, ill just do a spring over with some 36,s and mud the hell out of it!

SUUUUUWEEEEETTTT!! cool pig, I hope to get mine this weekend...

so really how much did you pay, I want to make sure I am not paying too much...

Fair market value :D . (Actually I gave $1200. probably too much but these things are scarce here in the south) Finally located a tank sender online. $50. for a used one. Wow those things are scarce!

Ok, let me ask this.... My roof on my 79 after looking real hard isnt that great , I found a 72 pig body with a perfect roof and all good glass in the backwoods for $250. (he started at $400) . are the roofs the same? was going to cut it off and swap it and use a couple of the glass pieces. (rear window and door window)

Sounds like what I did. Check out my thread at https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...972-september-potm-cruiser-guy-guatemala.html

I think there are some differences in the '55 roof though. Look carefully at the front doors.

cruiser guy, thats wht I was thinking of doing. What lift springs did you use? MAF no longer makes springs for the 55 and alaca just quoted me $1000. What size lift was it? I wanting to run 33,s. thanks, Ron
