Ernie,

You are realizing my dream.

I'm friends with @teleskier and we have tossed around this idea.

I have one of @orangefj45's split case e-brake tailpieces and was planning on finding a way to reproduce those, using that part to get ready for the top plate project.

I'm in Austin. Let's talk!

Howdy fellow Texan,
:)

Absolutely I would like to talk. I knew from Indy that @teleskier had purchased that virgin top cover and originally hoped to use it for this effort. In actuality if possible I would like to get measurements from as many top covers as possible, so if he would like to join the effort, that would be cool.

I think a few months ago I remember Orange having the rear tail pieces but I was too slow to pull the trigger. In retrospect i should have done it immediately. I ended up buying 2 full floaters with the ebrake to compensate for my depression. Lol

I'll shoot you over my cell and we can text more and grab a beer sometime.

Thanks
Ernie

Been really busy at work. I have made drawings and sent to Georg to check the dimensions. I'll get back on track at the end of next week

Not sure how much driveline would be left with a H55F and T case hand brake on a 40 series? For sure would need to move the torque tube and probably interfere with the fuel tank on the 79+. Toyota never attempted putting a five speed and a T case hand brake on any 40 series. Add a lift and then dealing with greater angle in a shorter distance. Not sure where Georg is at with shortening 60 series axles to 40 series width? If that came to market would be a better option and cut into possible buyers for the split transfer case hand brake. I'm covered either way and will go with the full floater axle with the hand brake if the top covers do end going to market at a descent price.

In the picture above I have a 40FF and a 70FF rear diff.

The difference between to 40 and 70 is 20mm total from wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flane, so 10mm per side or less than 0.5" per side. The 70 requires the spring purches to be relocated.

Found this for sale about 1/2 hour drive from me, seller says its BJ 5 speed, that sound right?

Based on that being a B-series bellhousing that was behind a B-series motor, but that transmission has the 40 series-specific top cover which is the special part.

This is off a 40 with a 3B. It's a 5 speed with the forward position shifter location. It has the old style steel bell housing
