Does anything hold the swingouts open, or are they "on their own"?

Anything to hold them in place if you are on an incline?

No, but it's a greased bushing not a bearing so the weight of the wheel keeps is where you put it on most small angles.

Great looking rig. I noticed you mounted your license plate the same way I did, so be sure to let me know if you get stopped and ticketed. Seems to me to be the most logical way to mount the plate without adding anymore hardware but I'm not sure that the local law enforcement would agree.

Cheers and Happy New Year.

Hanna sent me an aluminum arm and I first use LED Lighted Nutserts then went for a light bar from eBay. The verdict is still out on the light bar, not sure if the chrome is going to hold up.

4x4 labs dont seem very keen to sell their goods i have emailed them a few times now about buying one and having it sent over but they just wont reply, very very unimpressed.

If anyone wants to buy me a kit over there in the US and send it privately i will swing some $ your way as it would seems they dont wanna know about it.

Time for front bumper! I have ordered numerous things from IPOR and have to say good guys to deal with! I will be going with Lukes when comes time for rear bumper but yours looks real nice!

Due to the bushing/spindle design, the swingouts don't swing freely. You do have to move them with a bit off effort. It's not difficult to move them, but they wouldn't swing freely on an incline.

how do you have your license plate mounted? i see in one of the photos that it looks like its shifted to the right a bit? are any of the numbers blocked when the swingout is in the closed position?

im in va too and fear that with my swing out(same as you) it will be blocking my plate enough to get me pulled over. the cops in fairfax and loudoun are relentless and i'm bound to get a ticket at some point.

I just use one of the license plate bolts. It's not blocked if looking from directly behind. I think if you order with two swing outs like I did then the tire sits further to one side than if you have just one swing out (sits more towards the middle). I haven't had any problems with either police or the license plate falling down on one side.

I love IPOR's stuff! My skid-plate has held up rather well, even with the beatings I've given it through years of poor off-road driving.

We use bronze bushings instead of bearings for our spindle. They swing open and closed easily by hand, but there is enough resistance to keep them from moving even if the truck is parked on an incline.

BTW: In a previous/older thread it was mentioned to oil the spindles and not grease them.

I installed some "Lock Pin Sw Pack" on my dual swingout IPOR bumper to keep the handles from accidentally from popping open.
