Hey I lke the gauge cluster period. Just a curiosity, I can see how alot of guys would like it to be like the original setup, which is why i asked. As soon as it hits the market, you have your first sale right here.

Sorry for the delay, we redesigned some of the panels that make up the viewing area. Almost finished. This is a real picture, no photo magic, it actually looks better in person, those LEDs make it hard to take pictures(no halo glow in person). Next on the list is add the MPH logo and the tach/RPM displays. I got my rig running so I will do a write-up for the install. Yes.......;p

forget the MPH logo - let me know when you've converted it to kph! ;o)

Very very nice, but not my cup of tea either, little bit to 80's for me. If you went with matrix style LCD rather than a character style LCD with a choice of LCD color at the touch of a button and that would make me consider if done right. The holy grail is a full glass dash done with a sunlight readable color lcd or oled display that takes in input from standard sensors and is infinitely customizable via a connection to a computer program. That would sell like hot cakes not just to the Land Cruiser crowd.

That is a tall order for a product that is guaranteed to work in a vibrating steel dash with lots of dust, high moisture, high heat, low temp and a possibility of rain. Sounds like something the military would pay 10 million bucks to design. But that would be cool.

You are thinking electronics are fragile. They are not today. Take your your average laptop, the 2 things that break the most are both mechanical. The hinge to open and close the laptop and the hard drive. If you don't have those 2 present your laptop could withstand a boatload of vibration.

The average smart phone takes tons of abuse and works just fine for years and withstands all of the concerns you have mentioned.

Dust - this isn't the 70's or 80's, open up any electronic item that requires ventilation and it is covered in dust if it has been running for any amount of time.

High Moisture - put your electronics in a sealed case, this is what everybody else does.

High heat - not going to see over 135 degrees if it is mounted in a dash your average standard tube or rear projection HDTV reaches over this internally and the electronics are just fine.

Low Temp - When it comes to todays electronics, they like cold and perform better in it. The LCD screens can withstand all kinds of temp ranges.

Rain - See High Moisture.

Most, if not all vehicle manufacturers are moving towards a glass dash setup. You don't need military or even industrial grade. The military pays 10 million for a hammer from a govt. contractor because it says military grade on it.

If someone would come up with a true customizable glass dash that worked off of standard sensors rather than ODBII they would make a killing in the aftermarket.

Compatability

Will the gauges, specifically speedo and tach work with a Chevy 350 and GM NV4500 tranny? I use a mechanical cable for the speedo to the tranny right now, although its been busted for years.

In most all cases there are 3 ways to get engine tach data:
1) from the negative side of the coil
2) from the tach output on newer distributors
3) from some kind of inductive sensor reading the flywheel teeth or a toothed wheel mounted to the harmonic balancer, these are for diesels mostly

In most cases there are 2 ways to get speed data:
1) a pulse sensor that can be attached to the transmission or speedo cable, the industry has coined them a vehicle speed sensor or VSS
2) an inductive sensor that detects a toothed wheel inside the tranny, these are typically on newer transmissions.

We have circuitry that can handle either inductive or pulse sensors for the speedo and/or tach, we also can detect direct from the coil. I think you have 2 options, the NV4500 has the option of a VSS on the tail shaft or you can also use our cable connected speed sensor. We are looking at sensors right now and found one that will fit most all cable types. The sensor can be placed inline or at the end of the speedo cable.

bonjour,

hello,
excuse me I write vote language very badly
I am French I have a hj45 pick up with one six cylinders 3.6l diesel
I like much that you made

I will want well the same thing but with odometers mileage and counts turn rounds VDO or another mark and then the remainder numerically as you presented to us: partial mileage and gauge, pressure of oil, temperature and tension in 12volts
blue lighting is very well
it will use the connector of origin well?

it will use as same measurements as in EUROPE?

So anything come of thhis? I cant get my fuel gauge or temp gauge to wrok, so, I am having to make a decision, wanted to put this on my christmas list........

Everything is late on our end, slow to finish. Sorry for the delays. The design is complete, need to write some software and get the production stuff finialized.
The economy turns again, business has picked way up so now we are scrambling to ship with last years lowered inventory levels.
We will produce this soon I just can't say exactly when, maybe by Christmas.
I can relate to non-working gauges, some of mine don't work and that is just Wrong!

So, we've left you alone for a month:)

Let me chime in to say I'm keenly interested.

What's the updated ship date and cost point?

options

some suggestions

I would like the gauges but keep my original speedo keeping some of the classic look and maybe a lower price for that?

White LEDs

Diesel options for turbo/cylinder head temp/egt

I am thinking several optional functions for one gauge maybe since you are just talking different resistance ranges ie be able to cycle it from egt to cylinder head temp

Volts to amps would be great addition if that was poss in one meter

oh yeah and can we press a switch and watch dvd or gps on that spedo screen?
