yeah, that was the downside to the vortec heads but for the price I paid for them I'm happy. I'm really after bang for the buck power on this build. I'll check out the comp cam page. I'm getting more and more motivated to get this motor done.

Cool, I think you'll be happy with those rockers. I'm not too fond of the blue, but atleast they wont be in plain sight.

I'm pretty happy with the power of my stroker. I tried a nasty burnout but wrapped the axle badly (it would have absolutely SMOKED the tires) and mashed the yokes on my 1410 rear joint. The stock axles would have EXPLODED! I need to redo my shocks and mount an anti wrap bar. I went for a desert run the other night & beat on the cruiser pretty good. Running long hills I put the doubler into double low & the powerband is great, with the 700r4 OD, double low is very useable offroad.

My tune is pretty solid now, but I need a heated O2 to get a more consistant closed loop. I'm also thinking of building a tune for E85, not sure on that yet cause the closest station is about 8 miles away. Sub $3, high octane gas would be nice.

Hahaha... kick ass. I want video!

I had a thought...so how do you go about breaking in the cam with the ebl? I think the proper procedure is to run the motor over 2000 rpm for about 20mins? If the ebl is outta tune with the new parts how do you accmplish this?

If you have your fueling close with the stock cam then it will run real similar to stock at 2k rpm's since its not under load (unless you have a very radical cam). A little lean or rich is ok for cam break in. If the engine is running in the range of the NBO2 then you will be ok.

Once your cam is broke in, then you can bump the fuel pressure up and redo your VE tables.

I'll have video.... :grinpimp:

Lining up with Mace would be a nice touch... :)

So far, I beat a second gen 4wd dodge, (not sure if it was a 318 or 360) and then got beat by a late model c2500 extra cab. I'm not sure what he had, but he had pulled all of his badging and put on SS badging. He also had a big exhaust. I beat him off the line but he would pull me by the time I was in 2nd and he had 4 car links by about 75mph. :crybaby: My wife really rubbed it in . Not bad though for a 60 on one tons, 36's, and 2 t-cases. 5.13's would really help. I think I would have had a chance in 4-low.

Oh yeah, I also REALLY got beat by a built mid 90's vette :o

I don't know if my already fragile ego could survive a loss to Mace... :frown:

We'll have to get something together.

If I beat you with my little motor and energy sucking tranny.....

I would laugh for a very long time...

Course, I am still gonna get a shot of nitrous when I upgrade the injectors...

:steer:

Zach .. I love this thread ( since I only underestand .0000226 % of the hole information about injection posted here ) subscribing, just to know when you get ready .. !

good to hear from you... been a long time. I hope things are going well for you.

Just got back from a local hot rod parts shop where my buddy works and got my pushrods, throttle body adaptor, timing chain and cam ordered. Now that I ordered the cam I'm having second thoughts though. I'm really tempted to swap out the springs and have the heads machined to allow or more cam. My buddy at the hot rod shop said I could return if I decide to go that way. I think I'll make some calls around and see what the cost would be to have the heads done to allow more cam.

Thanks for wiping the drool off of them before shooting the pic. Have you named each one yet? ;p

Sounds like you're going to have a peppy runner when you finish. I'll might need some more boost to keep up with you.

as it turns out I did some research I found that comp cams has some "beehive" springs/retainers that will take the the maxium lift to .550. Best part is that there is no machining required. I've got a little more research to do but I think it should be a good way to go.

Those are some expensive springs!

The rpm range looks good on that RPM cam but I thnk it will have a poor low end and really rough idle (19d overlap).

According to the comp cams software, this cam will make 370hp on your engine, use a stock stall and have a good powerband. COMP Cams 12-242-2 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts - summitracing.com
Add some 1.6 rockers and it will do even better. It will still have a rough idle (7d overlap) but not as bad as the cam above.

This is the cam I have: COMP Cams K12-239-3 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy 4x4 Cam and Lifter Kits - summitracing.com it would give you a great idle and powerband but would give about 15 less hp on the top end. It would also work well with the 1.6 rockers.

the comp cams software works great for selecting cams. not sure if edelbrock has anyting similar, other than inputing the stats into desktop dyno.

some cool motor stuff I want to put a votec in my brown 60 ... but what I want to know about is the Hummer bead locks :steer::steer:
