yeah, that takes a lot of the mystery out of it. I think I'll work on tracking down harness for the pins here soon so I can add the IAT. I could probably wire in my tcc instead of using my manual foot switch.

I've run a bunch of different Learns and datalogs now and each time it seems to run better and better. I used to sit at idle and it just stunk pig rich. My throttle response and gas mileage have also got better.

I've thought about wiring in my 700r4 to work with the ECM. i'm not sure if I'll go that way or not though.

the learns should make it run great and you should have no exhuast smell at idle. this is why DIY tuning is so important, it would have taken you 2 weeks to get where you are at right now.

If you can't track down a harness for cheap ($30+/-) let me know & I'll send you some pins from mime. I probably still have 15 or so.

awesome thanks, I'll take a look around and see if I can come up with one first though.... back to re-reading the "tuning with the EBL" thread on thirdgen. Seems like every time I read through it, I absorb a little more or something makes more sense the second or third time I read it.

yeah, there are still tons of things I need to understand :D

I think I need to wire in my Park/ nuetral switch and get a better VSS. Then I can have the ECM control my 700r4. I have the howell stand alone 700r4 kit but I'm not too fond of it. You have a lockup converter in your th350? I've heard they are pretty hard to find.

I wanted to go 383 down the road but this is tempting... it would make me feel better about my bottom end too. Seems like a good deal. I emailed him about the details. I could probably get a couple hundred from my complete (minus harness and injector pod) TBI motor too.

If you wanted to got that route, I'd keep your bottom end as it is and throw a flat tappet cam in for 1/2 that price. That way you can get whatever cam you want.

If your bottom end runs strong right now I see no reason to change it.

Depending on the parts used, that could be a good deal though. :D

so I was looking at my new throttle body and my old throttle body and realized that the ports are different.

New:

Old (and no one make fun of my redneck vacuum port plugs) :)

So what is the port on the new one (furthest right)? I lost the egr vaccum port and gained what?

Thats pretty wierd, on my old and new TBI's I have all 4 ports. the one on the left is used for EGR and the one on the right is used for the aftermarket 700r4 vacuum swith I have. Not sure what it would be used for stock.

They are both straight vacuum so I would not worry about it if you have no use for it.

I just went and looked at my collection of 4 tbi's and all of them have all 4 ports except one has the one on the right not tapped. There must be some special app that didn't need 4 ports.

I love the diet mountain dew... that stuff is great!

I figured as much.... the vortec heads and manifold have no ports for egr, so you will have to run something from your headers, to a plate under the TBI, alot of work.

I got my cruiser to pass smog on saturday, I just needed to lean out the idle. I'm working on tuning the AE (pump shot) right now, but I'm having some issues, still fun though. The engine runs great right now and pulls real hard, I just need to get realiable quick throttle snaps, that don't go very lean or rich. once I get the pump shot figured out it will be a real beast off the line.

My manifold has provisions for EGR but I'm just going to bag it all together (they dont check under the hood here). Since it wont see the highway much I dont see any point bothering with it. I'll just get some actual plugs for the ports and be done with it.

Good news with your cruiser man!

If that hole comes out above the throttle blades it should get ported vacuum, which is good for dizzy advance among other things (none of which i can think of).

I would think the large port on your new TB would still work fine for your EGR.

Also, although i like the shop towel vacuum plugs, i dont think that they would actually prevent air from passing through. You might want to actually plug them so you dont tune your motor to run with a little vacuum leak.

I'd skip the roller tips & get these for the same price: Summit SUM-G6910B - Summit Aluminum Roller Rocker Arms - summitracing.com (verify which model you will need for your heads).

Thats what I have & they work great.

Thats a decent cam, too bad your Vortecs wont take more lift. Go to the comp cams webpage & download they're cam selection sofware. Don't be affraid to go with a cam with some overlap (durration and LSA). The EBL does well with them. I wish I had a bigger cam.
