@benc .....I've got a few questions. I've read through this thread a few times and still wasn't sure on this stuff.....

#1. Is the bumper itself 3 pieces? Left, Right, Center tow piece?

(Sorry for the late reply! Yes, 3 main pieces.)

#2. How do the catches for the swingout latches mount? I watched the video on the latches on your instagram, but its hard to tell.

(They mount to the release itself, the release and catch are built from 304 stainless for strength and corrosion resistance. )

#3. If I add the swing outs later, will the whole bumper have to come off to mount the swing outs and swing out catches? It seems like the cross member would be in the way of accessing the underside of the top of the bumper and maybe also the points where the swing arms bolt on once mounted up.

(No, all holes in the bumper have weld nuts or are threaded. )

#4. Have you had anyone Line-X one of your bumpers? Do you see any issues in doing so? I live in the midwest and drive my truck year round and winter salt is an issue for me. I prefer the more "beefy" nature of the steel bumper (not to mention the price) but I have had issues in the past with powder coating holding up long term especially in the winter. Line-X is kind of my go-to for metal things on my trucks and protects the metal a lot better IMO long term. Just wasn't sure if it could cause issues with possibly mounting the swing outs or the swing out catches or the hitch adapter, or if it would cause the swingout catches to be too high and cause issues there too. I ask because Line-X is somewhat thicker than powder coat, although I'm not sure by how much. I guess while I'm asking, would the line-x cause issues on your front bumper with small stinger for LX470 either?

(Depending on how thick it could definitely cause an issue. Care would need to be taken during the coating process to make sure all parts still bolt together. Everything is clearanced for two coats of powder)

#5. On the earlier pictures in the post, the backup lights were mounted inside of the tow points. In the last picture they are outside of the tow points. I assume outside the tow points is what they are going to be in the final version?

(Correct)

#6. Does the bumper and swing outs ship normal UPS in a box or something or does it need to ship freight on a pallet or ???

(It will ship on a pallet but via ups ground to your door.)

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't think I saw answers for any of them anywhere in the thread. I'm pretty sure I want to get in on the intro offer if its still available. I'll PM you my info right now. Thanks for taking the time to answer and happy Thanksgiving!

@benc
Would love to hear any updates on your thoughts for an aluminum version with steel swingouts as you mentioned earlier. My 100 needs to go on a diet. Cheers!

Diet! Ha, that’s why I personally went with aluminum. But apparently that makes me a mall crawler in some folks eyes... no trolls in particular

@benc Thanks for answering my questions! I really appreciate it. Can I still get in on the intro offer on the new bumper or is that done now?

Yes.
Shoot me a pm with what you are looking for.

I remember you were working on a jerry can carrier for this bumper. Any pictures of it, and shots of the bumper powdercoated?

Can we get a status update on the shipment of these? If I recall correctly, it was said to be up to 12 weeks. I’m now technically past 12 weeks since payment and was curious how much longer it would be until these suckers are shipping. Thanks Ben!

Will any hi-lift jack fit onto the spare tire swingout or is there a specific one you need to buy?

@benc At the center of rear cross member there is a factory ~2x2" hole (or close to it), and it has 4 factory installed welded in nuts (or were they just holes?). This is intended as a mounting point for a pintle hitch or something similar that most US trailer hauling folks would never use.

I see that this design's center piece with hitch places the receiver below the rest of the bumper.

Is it possible to move the receiver up to this factory location so as to not protrude below the bumper? I never measured the hole when I had my bumper off, so not sure if it is large enough to accept a 2" receiver assembly installed into it that could then receive a 2" tow bar accessory. Seems like this location would be plenty strong especially when reinforced by the rest of the bumper though...

Thoughts?

Am I understanding correctly that there are 3 hitch options with this bumper? (Low rise hitch that requires no cutting, high rise that requires notching of the crossmember, and a no hitch option)?

What is the price if I order more than one hitch?

And does anyone have a picture of what “notching the crossmember” looks like?

There will be different hitch options, however I recommend starting with the standard no cut version. I honestly believe that this option will work perfectly for 99%. The high clearance hitch option should be around $100.

I ordered one the other week. Super stoked to get it and put it on but perfectly fine with the wait/lead time. I also got the spare mount swingout as well, but will be waiting to put it on when i get new tires. (I got tundra wheels with stock all terrain tires with 70+% left on them). Dont want to mount a non matching wheel with a worn tire up there unless i throw a cover on it.
Im not lifted yet but i do have the 3rd row seats removed. Im GUESSING that the effect of adding this weight is similar to carrying the third row seats and a passanger in back, so im not too worried. Anyone mount a rear bumper without a lift? Pics?

You will mostly likely sag. The bumper most def weights more than the seats do and even if they are equal weight, the weight will be further away from the axel having a greater affect on the rear suspension. And you absolutely will when the spare moves from underneath to way back on the vehicle. I think you will definately run the risk of bottoming out on stock springs. If you're dropping some good change on the bumper at least throw another 150 to get some higher spring rate coils in rear.

Thank you for the insight and quick response. I have plans on getting a full suspension setup from trail tailor next when tax-returns come in which should sync around the same time the bumper is finished (jason from trailer is pausing orders till feb). I may still throw the rear bar on before the lift as a motivation to show the wife the NEED for a lift ;) will see how it pans out. (She loves the cruiser and is supportive of the upgrades btw, but money is money and to be honest id be scrutinizing as well if the cash was going towards one of her hobbies). If i do mount the bumper before the lift i will post a pic of it and show/tell.

Nice strategy. Good luck getting the budget passed through the finance committee!

Sorry for the lack of updates!
Been crazy busy with some custom builds as well as The wild fire in paradise slowed things down tremendously, while we were an hour or so away from the fires I have several family members that lived in paradise.
That's not to say we haven't been working hard on the 100 series bumpers. I currently have several of the main bumpers welded up but we ran into some difficulties on the new swing out design. We are working through those but it takes time. I have the hopefully finalized swing arm cut and will bend it up for a test fit this week.
I'm working hard on getting everything perfect before I ship them out.
I do appreciate everyone's patience so far and hope that you understand the estimated lead time is just that, an estimate. Especially on a full redesign I have to make sure everything is 100% correct before shipping. I also want to clarify that I do have a full time welder so parts are getting welded everyday even when other projects are being done and posted about.
Please feel free to email me for updates along the way as that will be the best way for a quick response.
Also please remember that we are an extremely small operation that is extremely focused on producing the best products possible and are working extremely hard long days to fulfill orders.
Thank you!

I got no doubt you will outdo yourself with these bumpers. When I saw the Dissent stuff at HIH, I couldn’t imagine improving on the design but here we are now!

I’d rather wait and give you plenty of time to do what you gotta do than rush the process!

I remember a saying from way back “you want it done right or you want it done right now?” Can’t do both in most cases! Quality takes time.
