They review these in the new crawl magazine, they state that the 37 is a true 37 size tire

That will be good if true, although doesn’t matter for me as I went with the Cooper STT Pro, and that tire is a full size bigger than the ko2.

I’m starting to think that tire compound technology is advancing so rapidly that the best thing to do is just buy the latest release.

I tend to agree with this whole-heartedly, but i also just bought a brand new set of Goodyear MTRs. A tire that was released to the public way back in 2009.:meh: I dont really want GY to update the design but I would love a set with the latest rubber compound technologies baked in.

Those GYs are a great tire. I have 50k+ miles and ~15 wheeling trips on mine on my 80 and they've held up surprisingly well. My only issue is the price. I'm hoping these KM3s come in well below the MTRs since I plan to plus up to 315/75/16 and will need to buy 5 tires. I'm crossing my fingers these KM3s end up on the Costco order system very soon.

50k out of a set of MTRs?? Man, i'd say you got your moneys worth even with their high price of admission. I justify the high price everytime i notice the "Made in USA" on the sidewall. I think the KM3s will price cheaper than the GYs, we should all know very soon!

I’m on my third set of gy mtr2 great tire in Colorado and Moab , last set I got for cost which made them not to bad on the pocket book for a 37, and last time I looked it’s the lightest tire in its sizes

I think the 315s and larger are load range D. At least in the 315 KM3 they're Es. I assume that has something to do with it's lighter weight.

As a point of reference, I paid $294/tire for the Cooper STT Pro at Discount Tire. Cooper is the other major U.S. tire and rubber company and the STT Pro, S/T Maxx, and AT3/ATW are all manufactured in the U.S. along with their Mickey Thompson line. BFG manufactures the ko2 and km2 in the U.S. so presumably the km3 will be as well.

I’m pretty shocked at how nice the STT Pro ride - load range D in a 37. I was running the 37” ko2 at 25 PSI for ride quality and contact patch on an 8.5” rim and the Coopers ride better at 32 PSI with similar handling characteristics. About the same amount of weight to balance.

75 lbs.

Anyone put their eyes on the KM3 in 7.50R16 yet?

Yes! Your picture came after I had already pulled the trigger though :). I couldn’t find photographic evidence of their existence.
Those look absolutely perfect. Can’t wait to see them on the goat (and my 40).

Price is right and a rebate to boot

Some help for a newbie buying his first ever set of wheels/tires?
I’ve just got a 4” lift and looking to get a set of 17x9 wheels with 35’s on them.
I plugged that into the BFG calculator and it spit out 35X12.50R17/E 121Q
Is that basically it and what I should buy or am I missing something?

I don't remember BFG offering a 7.50r16 before. And I don't see it on the list for KO2 either. Also new in the KO2 is the 34X10.50/17. Are they trying to offer a broader range of taller/skinnier tires?

I just got my KM3s mounted and installed. The weight of my worn out 285 MTRs on oem steelies was 97.8 pounds. The 315 km3s on oem aluminum wheels weighed 98.4 pounds.

In reference to the 7.50R16...

Ok... I couldn’t wait - they arrived quick and I mounted one up on a 6” wheel. The picture makes it look fatter than it is.

Next to a 235/85R16 also on a 16x6 wheel.

Next to 33x10.50 on stock FJ62 wheel. (The AT is obviously loaded - but I think they would be pretty dang close in height both standing free).

I might just have to go back to white wagon wheels on the ‘62! :grinpimp:
