New armor installed, previously owned by a few CSC members. Not sure why never installed but I'm happy to have it.

Replaces factory cross-member provides much better protection to transfer case along with a good part of the transmission. Well built, nice fitments, and only 30 lbs over the factory worthless stuff. I loose .5" clearance at the cross-member and no clearance loss at the factory transfer-case skid plate height. Pictures somewhat deceiving, the total depth of the protection is only ~2.5" deep. Looks like it will be a nice compliment my LCP rock rails for protection.

Looks good

Nice Phil - looks like good protection

Who is the manufacturer of that skid?

good looking

I see a CSC skid plate production possibility - I'd buy one....:hhmm:

I have the beginning of a design, maybe after Moab?

It was a prototype. Christo let me have it for testing and it looks like he will take them into production at some point.

So just found this out! I wound how many of these are floating around. I'm sure not many. I just had to have something to cover the trans pan for my skid because I didn't want to have to drop the pan again. As far as dropping pans go though, not that big a deal.

We should have production versions in about 3 weeks. The project got shelved for a while, but we have made some design changes to have more clearance for the transfercase tail housing.

I for one look forward to both designs in the near future

It was me. When I was talking about getting a skid plate I was told that it only gives a place to collect mud and then will generate unnecessary heat.

The person that told me knows who they are ;)

Hopefully they don't tell you to jump off a bridge:flipoff2:

the first part is correct - I got tons of dirt up there :hillbilly:

I mean, I spent $20 at the car wash the other day, was wetter than the cruiser by the end of the wash , and there was still Moab concrete falling off of it

Good to know. When I picked up my 80 from Bruce Miller 2 years ago, you were quick to respond to my questions about swingout latches and front driveshafts, but I never got an answer about this skid plate that Bruce threw in on the deal. Thanks, John

When you are new and ask questions to those that are experienced and you build this trust you tend to believe them.

It is like when you in the middle of a waterfall and someone says "Yeah you need to use your winch" and you think "no way I can make it" but you trust them any way and then they call you a pussy for ever after that :flipoff2:
