When you are new and ask questions to those that are experienced and you build this trust you tend to believe them.

It is like when you in the middle of a waterfall and someone says "Yeah you need to use your winch" and you think "no way I can make it" but you trust them any way and then they call you a pussy for ever after that :flipoff2:

AHh now I see where your hate stems from, sorry you were butt hurt.

As a trip leader you have goal to get everyone home without damage or breakage, you are welcome. Sometime you also make calls based on a drivers experience, vehicle, and conditions, I stand by my call.

I look forward to testing my skid plate soon

WHAT? Shannon has been severely lacking in his duty to entertain us, so someone has to at least make an attempt? :hillbilly:

It is good you have an auto, because pulling that piece of iron off to check gear oils would be a deterrent for me.

The OEM skid plate I have always collects huge amounts of mud and rocks- but that would not be a concern where you guys are - since you have very little mud

Youtube of the event would only heighten the entertainment value for years to come

Myth – Full belly skid plate on an FZJ80 can fill with mud create heat and damage your transmission.

My thoughts –Myth - I ran a modified factory full belly skid plate on my FJ60 with a Chevy 700R for 20+ years and 175K with never an issue or concern. Several other vehicles have full belly skid plate from the factory. The 80 belly plate fits tight with no direct access for mud with plenty of relief holes.

Test condition – 50 miles of dirt trails some while raining, some while snowing, and some just slimming deep clay mud. All miles done the same day.

Pictures of test vehicle after 50 miles of testing .

I bet Inkpot wished somebody could have busted that myth the night at our club meeting when he was trying to sell the very same pan you purchased. Perhaps he could have sold it right then. :grinpimp:

Cool. Did you make an appointment with Murf to get it cleaned?

Cleaning started last night in Globe at 7PM with the wheels so I could get home.

Threw in the towel with more to do at midnight

The run made it well worth the trouble

Looks familiar.............
