I have a brand new Aisin slave (crt-019) for my 40 and also replaced the clutch master and everything installed correctly, but I could not get the new slave to push any fluid through whatsoever and no pressure was being built up.

Didn’t know if I needed a bench bleed this because it didn’t seem like I needed it - so I pulled it off and bench bled and just realized that the cylinder inside on new one is not moving and pushed all the way forward. Is this normal or is there a way I can get the cylinder moving a little bit And free it up?

New aisin on left, old on right.

I was going to suggest cobbling parts together but like another said above, your old one looks great?

Also, where did you get the new one?
Seems like a great place to avoid.

Where did you source that “new” slave cylinder so that I never order form that manufacture! I see that it is an Aisin. I replaced mine about 5 months ago with an Aisin and didn’t have this issue?
Beat you by a minute Bob

I ran across this issue last fall. Aisin slave with 1 seal. I rebuilt the slave with a cruiseroutfit kit that had 2 seals on the piston.

Post in thread 'What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?' What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-land-cruiser-this-week.255593/post-15307377
So what the heck does this mean… I ordered this directly from the manufacturer via Amazon and mine didn’t come with a spring or that second seal. Are all of them done this way now or is it just a defect?

Thru my many years of owning a 40's, I've run across stk slaves without the spring. The aisin slave that I rebuilt in the link wasn't that old. I dont recall where i bought it. I knew it was a rebuildable core. I always keep a couple of slaves and masters on the shelf and I usually keep 1 slave in each 40. When I ordered the rebuild kit, I bought a couple of them.

Yea well quality control isn't what it was. That's why I tell people just because you bought and installed new parts doesn't mean they are good.

The bore goes bad from rust - brake fluid sucks water out of the air - change it every few years.
The seal(s) goes bad - a kit from a vendor will usually fix it.

I bought a new master, slave and a braided stainless hose on ebay for $130 delivered. My old master was rusted badly

It appears that there may have been a change with the Aisin manufacturer in the design, but it’s very confusing. A lot of the rebuild kits I see online, including those from Toyota no longer provide the center gasket on the piston nor do they include the spring. That’s exactly how my unit came from the manufacturer. But I don’t want to do is install this only to find out that it’s failing Within miles and leaving me stranded. If I swap over the center gasket onto my new piston, it doesn’t have FreePlay in the slave body and does not feel correct. It’s only a hair bigger.

Anybody else remember if they had that center gasket on their piston in a rebuild or a new unit?

Here is Toyota rebuild kit:

If you scroll down in my post that I linked earlier, cruiseroutfit comments on the piston with the double seal.

Yeah hear ya…

@cruisermatt do you have any insight into this paradigm? 1 seal vs 2 seals, internal spring and no spring? Why is Aisin only providin g what you see above?

The CRT019’s I stock and sell work perfectly. No idea about Amazon,
That’s interesting that they don’t provide personal tech support though.
