Hello Yall

I am about to buy a Gold 2005 Land Cruiser 100 series with 192k miles for 10500. The owner is very nice and honest on what needs to be done and it does not seem like much. I am posting to get everyones opinion as this is the first true land cruiser I will be owning (I have a GX that will be posted soon if I do purchase the car). Please let me know what yall think and thank you!

what has been done as of late
-Aisin oe timing belt kit with tensioner
-front main seal
-Toyota oem radiator
-oem coolant flush
-oem upper and lower radiator hoses with new clamps
-oem thermostat
-serpentine belt
-Oe idler pulley
-oe tensioner pulley
-gates fan bracket
-oem air filter
-oem power steering vacuum hoses

-oem valve cover gaskets
-oem spark plug tube seals
-half moon reseal with Toyota rtv
-denso 4702 twin tip spark plugs
-New denso fan clutch
-New high pressure ac line and desiccant

what the owner thinks needs to be done for it to be "mint" or 100%

Outside
  • Full respray to look mint
  • Some dents in the back
  • Gouge in the rear bumper

Mechanically
  • Cv axles replaced by dealer
  • Boot on passanger side is torn
  • Bearings on the truck have been replaced
  • Have a set of OE bearings
  • Leaking from high pressure lines
  • Boots are torn on inner tie rod
  • Have a 75k mile truck steering rack
  • Rear main and O ring that dries out
  • Leaking, slow leak
  • Low pressure lines are slow leaks
  • Output seal for the pinion seal on the front
Audio
  • Nav system is cracked
  • Needs new amp

Due for oil change (age not milage)

Transmission service probably needed soon

Good year, good price, good maintenance and no rust. Sounds like a winner. I'd replace the heater t's right away but thats cheap and easy.

Documented receipts at a reputable shop, or the owner's own notes/memory?

I don't understand this second list - are these things that the owner thinks a buyer should address (RMS, torn boots) or does it include stuff that has been done (cv axles, bearing replacement)? A lot of it tracks for a 192K mile truck, I wouldn't worry too much about leaks that are not leaving drips on the ground. Forget painting it unless you want to never take it out of the garage - a good respray will cost more than all the other stuff combined and good body shops charge $1000 just to walk in the door for metal work.

$10.5K seems right if you have a decent service history and can afford another $5-7K in professional work to get it really buttoned up, or maybe half that if DIY'd. Or, change the oil, flush the trans, and drive it like you stole it!

Sorry, second list is what owner recommends things that need to be done. also owner is a very reputable and experienced seller so I do trust his word when it comes to the maintenance he has done. timing belt has mechanic workshop sticker on it as well.
