Got everything I am aware of under the dash connected. Still a few mystery wires. Picked up a battery and made new cables. Getting really close to trying to crank it over.

Relocated the coil off the engine and onto the fender to make the wiring easier (plus that's the factory location). Finished up a few loose ends and fired it up with some starting fluid. It runs. I need to get some gas and fill up the tank. I connected the rest of the heater hoses and added some water. The water quickly ran all over the floor due to a hole in the untested radiator. :grinpimp:

I bought a kit. All but 2 lines fit really well. I plan to buy a nice flare tool and build my own in the future though.

Pretty sure the coil moved to the fender when igniter started. Wish I knew twenty-seven years ago what I know now about the ignition system. Bought my 73 as a non running vehicle. Got it run only with the key in start. Figure problem was in the ignition switch. Cruiser was a sore subject as I had just bought another 40 a month before. Because of this I didn't pursue getting a switch. I now realize the problem is most like the resistor bypassed when starting is bad. Engine could be in good shape. Be a good winter project getting it running after I clean up the wiring mess.

What's a shame.is.I could have used your engine is these the tired 73 engine was replaced with 74 F1/2. On another note did you ever go thru that Warn winch? Probably be back in town in the next month or two. We need to get together.

That Warn is slated to go on my trailer (thanks again). It's on my to do list and should happen when I am on vacation next week.
Would love to meet up with you when you're in town next. The 74 will be mostly done and you can check it out.

Why am I just now seeing this thread. but i need to watch out i already have too much ADHD with Uma, I don't need more new ideas clouding my vision...........oooohh something shiny.

New radiator installed and everything put back together. I plan to run some regular water to flush it out a couple times. Then fill with distilled and some coolant. First round and no leakage or problems.

The correct fan fits the shroud so much better too. Who would have thought that... :hillbilly:

Love watching your build. When it gets cooler and I get my cruiser back together, I’ll have to head up your way!
Hey mine is torn apart too.😆

I would flush the cooling system with distilled water instead of tap water. You'll probably only need 4 or 5 gallons. Then use a/f and distilled water after the flush. Tap water has too many impurities in it.
