Hey mo...What would $$$ look like if Hawkeye and I requested the same setup? In other words, i am looking for a ladder also and if we both want the same thing, perhaps that might help with the cost instead of doing total one-offs for each of us ? Just a thought...Hawkeye, i am not sure of your thoughts, but am just throwing it out there.......

Hey ...Would it be possible to do the tire carrier and ladder on a single swing out ? Maybe just move the tire carrier off to one side and the ladder on the other ? Kinda like the photo below but on a single swingout:

**** I am not trying to be a pushy, demanding, a**h*le of a customer..Just trying to throwout some ideas....Please feel free to shut me up at anytime Mo! ****

Kind of a trick question but I will do my best answer it. Yes you can do that on a single swingout, but, that doesn't necessarily mean that you should. Luke's design that you referenced basically isolates the forces of the spare on one swingout and the ladder on the other swingout. Having a spindle on the ladder side adds a major amount of stability to resist the lateral forces exerted on the horizontal swingout arm itself. That being said for the occasional time you get on the ladder while the vehicle is stopped, assuming you don't use it as a high dive into Spider Lake of course, it would probably be fine. Almost all of the torsional force on it would be exerted on the latch with the most obviously being while you are at the top of the ladder. It would probably be fine but I can't guarantee since I haven't personally done it.

Alright ...I get the point.

I guess this is the reason why i am not a fabricator (although i once made a killer ashtray out of clay).

Anyhow, I am down with dual swings.

Don't get me wrong, I can do it if you want me to. I am just not positive how it will fare long term.

I had a thought on the way to work this morning. Is the re-routing of the stock tailpipe location a prerequisite to having this bumper installed?

I need to reroute mine anyways but been lazy... smashed the tailpipe almost closed at JB a few weeks ago, haha.

Thanks for the reminder. I totlly forgot, you all will have to ditch the resonator and do a slight re-route of the exhaust tip. For mine I just cut out the resonator, cut off the tip from the tail end of the resonator, and weld the tip back onto the exhaust. I will be able to help with that one if you need it.

I think my FJ80 is little different. If I remove the spare tire crossmember and route the exhaust along the frame and have it stop where the crossmember is will I be good?

So did welding the tip back on help eliminate the whistle that you get when hacking off the resonator? If so that was a brilliant idea and free. I have been debating on adding a down tip to mine since you have to hack the resonator for the Hanna bumper as well.

teej, you don't have a resonator because you have the 3FE in your 91. You will be able to cut off and re-direct your tip without having to add anything. I don't have a pic available but what I did with mine is cut it right about where it goes under the frame and take a section of the end and rotate it and weld it on so that it comes out just below and behind where the rear wheel well terminates.

Nope. Just kept the tip out of the rocks more. I put in Magnaflow muffler to get rid of the whistle.

Mo, I had the mounting bracket brake at the resonator. I want cut it off and get it out of the way. I need to know how muck to cut. If you have a picture of yours that would be helpful. Thanks, Charles

I will try and get one up for you. But to give you an idea for now I cut the pipe right about where it goes under the frame at the rear of the wheel well and welded on the section I cut off of the back of the resonator so it comes out about the vertical plane of the pinch weld at the bottom of the quarter panel and pointing down and back. I should be able to get a pic up for you tomorrow.

Sorry Charles, I totally forgot to get that pic up for you. :o I went on vacation the next day so my mind was elsewhere.

The way TJ's is will work just fine. Mine is very similar but it is the factory tubing and angles down right about where his does but ends further out. Looks good.

Also Charles do you want the price for a ladder on a single or do you want to go dual?

How's it coming along Mo? I was think that if at some point we can get a date from you when the bumpers will be done, then we can get back to planing that install party. no rush Mo, just curious. Thanks

Mo finished my bumper up on Friday and i was able to pick it up. I still need to powder-coat it but i think it looks pretty good! Mo even drilled out holes to cut down on weight (nice touch man!). Mo said the Iron Cross tail light conversion kit would only be $20 extra! What do you guys think:

Nice work Mo! :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Anyhow, I did drop by Mo's shop on Friday to talk over the additions to my bumper and he said all is going well. As he mentioned, it will be a lot more fun and financially beneficial for us to have an install party somewhere vs. having Mo help us individually with installing our bumpers. So......Who is going to donate their house ????????
