My wife flew home at the end of our week in Silverton. I was able to convinced my dad to fly up for the weekend, he really enjoyed the scenery... especially at the hot springs

@gnob I haven't seen the carrier yet in person. There is a third vertical support in addotion to the main tubing. (Red drawing) I think he's going to add a gusset plate at the vertical support going out to the lateral support... I will keep you posted.what's your thought process on the spare offset?
like the double shear. spindles always seem like a problem waiting to happen.
@RichardSkinner I wanted the tire mounted on the drivers side. My thought, is that I might have a little more visibility when looking over my shoulder when backing up. If the tire is mounted on the passeners side, it creates a complete blind spot for me. I can't see directly behind me anyway, so mounting it on the driverside made more sense to me. Putting the weight of the tire closer to the hinge helps reduce the stress at the hinge. So driver side swing it is.Curious why driver side swing also? Not sure if there was a specific reason, as they're usually passenger to swing away from traffic passing side.
