My wife flew home at the end of our week in Silverton. I was able to convinced my dad to fly up for the weekend, he really enjoyed the scenery... especially at the hot springs šŸ˜‰

I don't have any new updates, modifications or fun trips taken in the 4runner recently ā˜¹... The good news is that she still runs like a top and 100% reliable as the day she was made.
I did do a little exploring of the lake bed at our lake house?.. if you can still call 5% a lake? (Media Lake, Tx). Sadly, even I missed the Lone Star Landcruiser Round Up this year. Well cheers for now, just checking in. Thx

Thats the only thing i would have bought other than a 70 series was a 85 factory solid axle 4 runner

BTW its *MUD life crisis* šŸ˜†

Love my BudBuilt crossmember/skid.

Another great trip to Colorado, the 4runner ran & performed great. The welds on my factory battery tray finally gave up but that'll be an easy fix. šŸ¤™šŸ¼

what's your thought process on the spare offset?
like the double shear. spindles always seem like a problem waiting to happen.
@gnob I haven't seen the carrier yet in person. There is a third vertical support in addotion to the main tubing. (Red drawing) I think he's going to add a gusset plate at the vertical support going out to the lateral support... I will keep you posted. šŸ‘šŸ»

Curious why driver side swing also? Not sure if there was a specific reason, as they're usually passenger to swing away from traffic passing side.
@RichardSkinner I wanted the tire mounted on the drivers side. My thought, is that I might have a little more visibility when looking over my shoulder when backing up. If the tire is mounted on the passeners side, it creates a complete blind spot for me. I can't see directly behind me anyway, so mounting it on the driverside made more sense to me. Putting the weight of the tire closer to the hinge helps reduce the stress at the hinge. So driver side swing it is. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

@Txfireman, totally with you on that. We mounted the tire on/in the bed as far to the driver side as we could. Off-road, parking, on the highway, it's basically invisible. Okay sure, being up against the cab exaggerates the effect. But still - driver side is definitely better for visibility.

The swing out carrier turned out awesome, it's super sturdy. I can literally sit on the swing arm without it moving or flexing. The 4xinovations hinges are stout, easy to use and super smooth. With the tire mounted on the driver side I can still see behind me when backing. I had him add a small disc on the top of the support hoop for my magnetic antenna mount.
