Dave, I'm trying not to let the cat out of the bag until I've actually got it in the bag ;)

I do still have the reservoir, still got all of it. Trying to sell the hydro complete, but will start parting it out as of Sunday. Should I put your name down for the reservoir assuming it doesn't sell complete?

The cat :D

F-Toy Chassis #501 + an '88 4Runner minus the body.

For now it will just get stashed in the back of the garage until the pickup is finished and I have more time/$$ to build it. It was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Also, we had to pull the pickup out of the shop to get the Ftoy behind it, so we decided to flex it up a little bit.

The lines of tape are tentative placement of the tube for the front bumper/fender bars.

We got the new front axle stripped down and ready for gusseting and such tomorrow(when the stuff from Trail-gear gets here). We also got the current axle and suspension gutted in preparation for the new stuff.

I'm heading back down in a few to work on the gas tank placement and hopefully get that finalized.

Tomorrow I hope to get the front axle rebuilt, hung under the truck, and the steering setup. If I can get all that done, and the fuel lines extended I should theoretically be able to drive this thing on Wednesday!

hell yeah!

truck looks GOOD! although, the stinger....

If you still have the front axle, slee is looking for one in wanted. You gonna make it to Harlan for the yota crawl april fools weekend???? Mine shold be done in time:frown:

Formula toy:grinpimp: been thinking about that around here as well:idea:

I have no idea if I will make it to the 'yota crawl in Harlan, I don't even know where Harlan is, but I doubt it.

I'm supposed to be going to St. Thomas for spring break, and I'm going to Australia in may for a study abroad, so funds are VERY strapped now.

Crap, I updated my thread on Pirate last night, but forgot to update this one.

Alright, well I set to work on the front axle, got it cleaned up, gusseted and rebuilt. The knuckles still have to go on, but other than that, it's ready to go. The first pic is a pic from when I finished welding everything on. I used the trail-gear kit and did the long upper gusset, the knuckle ball gussets with integrated shock mounts, and the ring gear protection.

I also had to cut my original front hanger off because it was now too wide for the stock mini-truck spring width. So I cut that off and welded on the new one that came with the trail-gear kit. If you're wondering why I ordered a kit when I have a lot of the stuff already, it's because I figured it would be easy to work with new parts and have a complete kit, meanwhile the parts I already have will not go to waste since I have the F-toy to build too.

I had been having a hard time trying to figure out where to put a gas tank, and whether or not I was going to run a stock tank or a fuel cell. Well in the efforts of time and money I decided relocating a stock tank behind the axle was the best route. I had this tank from a '92ish pickup and it's a little shorter height wise than the stock tank. Since I already think it hangs down too far, I used this one instead of the original. You can also see how I mounted it. I hadn't MIG welded in over 2 years before Monday, so I'm pretty pleased with how the welds are turning out.

Once the tank was in we plumbed it and wired up the fuel pump and tried to start it. Unfortunately something was amiss and the fuel pump wasn't working. I started poking around with the volt meter and in doing so managed to short something out. Now all of the electronics in the entire truck are dead. I have to sort that out and I really have no idea where to start. I'm hoping I blew the fusible link or something, although I have no idea why trying to read the volts across the fuel pump wires would cause such big problems. There was definately an audible "pop" when it quit, but none of use could tell where it came from. I swapped ECU's with the F-toy to see if maybe I had blown the computer, but it didn't make a difference. I also checked all the fuses, but since everything is dead I doubt it's an individual fuse. Any ideas?

If you picked that f-toy in Maryland, I got the body tub off it. I thought he was going to finish it but that was two years ago. Good luck with the project!!!

Yup, I sure did. How is the tub? the frame on this thing looks stout, but everything else is rusty as hell.

I got the pickup running last night! It only took me about 8 hours of troubleshooting to figure out that I had a bad connection between the battery and the main fuse box, and then another couple hours to rig something up at the fuel pump to keep it from leaking. But it runs!! Woo hoo! I was really nervous since it has been sitting for over a year and a half without so much as being turned over.

As soon as my little brother gets here this afternoon with the right drill bits I will have the steering box mounted. Then all I have to do is tear the knuckles back down again on the front axle to grind the ball gussets I put on (they interfere with the felts near full lock) and possibly swap the SA hubs out for IFS hubs. Then it should be ready drive as soon as I figure out a more permanent fuel pump solution.
