Finished my Tailgate and Restored License Plate Bracket.

Turns out that Eastwood.com has a gray paint called "Detail Gray" that I think is a pretty good match to pewter trim.

Hey buddy looks great and I do think I will be copying off you with the tailgate:p
No issues with the rear hinges of your tailgate and the swing off tire carrier?
Also I love that you went with the earlier front turnsignals, how much modification did you have to do to the wiring harness?

To answer your question: I don't have my tire carrier mounted yet, nor have I figured out wiring yet.

Man, I was locked down on this string over the weekend...and I will definitely be referencing it once I get my rig bought and start working on it....great info that will really be helpful. Thanks KY Longhunter...can't wait to see it when it's 100% done.

Its been awhile since I checked out this thread but it is looking great, keep it up. 2 things I wished I had done on my frame off. You mentioned the wiring. I wish I would have took the time to try and refabricate the entire wiring which could have been done and hopefully most connectors could be found and if not swapped to a different type btu this is one thing I wished I had done though I totally went through entire harness and hacked off old splices and all that and retaped and loomed. I did purchase the MAF 4+ rear bumper/ cooler carrier and it is an OX of weight back there but in all honesty I have already taken it off for it became an issue to ope and close it becuase of corrosion in the spindle and th epowder coating absolutely sucked and was completely off in one year so I am now back to bumperettes. I am not sure if I will put back on or not and before I do I will drill tap some zirk grease fittings in first and powder coat good. And wish I would have soundproofed/ heat shielded the entire firewall inside and out and under trans hump beofre installing engine back in but I have a Diesel so I will have to go back to do that some day.

Roberto...thanks for posting. I'm glad to know Im not the only person reading my thread!

I need to get back after it. Especially if I'm going to accomplish my New Years Eve Resolution for the 5th year running!

I have yet to tackle my wiring harness and would gladly consider paying someone to do it as time seems to be my biggest commodity.

Another issue that I've recently been pondering is to use the header I bought or try to re-use my existing exhaust manifold. I separated the two and was told by a Land Cruiser guru from a well known Land Cruiser vendor that I will never be able to get Intake Manifold / Heat Riser / Exhaust Manifold to seal properly now that I separated. Of course he sold me the header and might be a little biased!

What do others recommend?

Almost wish I had just gone back with smogged system. Seems more cost effective in some regards and insures resale value???

Also, I jacked up my carb insulator when dismanteling engine. Is this a big deal? Well I have heat issues??

I can't help jumping around from this issue to that issue and just get overwelmed. When this happens I just drop everything. Would love to get this darn thing back together and running! :o

You two aren't the only ones reading this thread :)

It is hard to get the two back together... However ... It is doable

There is a procedure to doing it... I recall it is here on mud ... I have a header but kinda wish I had the oem exhaust ... Headers rust out quick! If they are not ceramic coated ... A lot easier to work on that side of the engine with just one pipe hanging down also easier to have a pto then as well
Edit...
Just realized you have the much newer style insulator.....

Sor does have them for 130. ... But you can get one new from Toyota ... The original number was super to 2191261035

I'm here too!

I have nothing to offer on the manifold issue. On the overwhelming-ness of the task I can only advise taking baby steps. One small task at a time will get you there. Pick whatever seems it should happen first and "just do it" like Nike.
