hahah yea it is....The roll bar scrapes when I take it out of the garage....so it will have to live outside under a fabric car cover for a few months before I move :crybaby:
Let air outta the tires.

Happy B-day Eli :)

Bummer but about the strep throat :(

Was I the only one that noticed Eli sporting a new cut? And my wife says I don't notice anything! HA

quick question...I need to order my weatherstripping soon....I have talked to a few people who feel that CCOT weather striping isnt as good as Toyota, or SOR stuff....any opinions?

Is cdan the guy to talk to if I decide to order it from toyota?

On my way back from Vail I stopped by Proffitts Cruisers------and------ it was wicked cool! So many nice cruisers!

I would suggest going to american toyota in Albuquerque(forum sponsor). Cruiser Dan can get all the weatherstripping you need for the top. Plus he's closer to you to minimize shipping costs.

Orginally I ordered my stripping through CCOT and was dissappointed on the quality. Some of it looked like old fashioned camper weather stripping.

Thanks for the link....Im going to go OEM.

Tonight we made good progress...The majority of the brake lines are in...all thats left is to run the line on each axle and mate it up with everything else that we allready put in place tonight...(didnt have the right T-fitting to finish) Also the tranny coolant lines that were giving me hell are in....so all we need to do with the tranny is fill it up, and put the last nut and bolt in the torque converter/flexplate connection, and mount my B&M shifter to the tranny hump.

PS still has to be mounted. (I tried to get off the old pedestal by grinding down the rivets but that wasnt enough....need to get a big drill bit and go to town.)

I have found a few other random problem areas that I need to fix...but nothing that an hour cant solve.

Tmrow Im gonna get my insurance figured out so It will be legal for the test drive. Friday maybe....but saturday for sure.

Ill take a video the test drive and post it up as soon as it happens.

Hey man, stellar job. I can only hope that when I build mine up it comes out half as nice.

Happy belated birthday and congrats on getting out of the sling, injuries are a major pain in the butt.

Looking forward to seeing your test drive vid. Best of luck.

just a question

Did you ever think about one of the tubs from heritage metal? I know there steel and you liked the aluminum one but I was wondering if they just suck? I was thinking on getting the rear half for my 78 and didn't know if you had done any research on em.

Thanks
Paul

ok ok so I know that ive probably thought this before...but with any luck, (not really...theres not much left to do) this will be the last weekend of work untill the cruiser is road worthy. Kinda makes me sad... we are gonna meet up and work for about an hour ish tonight...but Chad (my mechanic friend) is comin over all of saturday, so we can take it out for a test drive hopefully before lunch, come back, tighten down everything...double check stuff..do any necissary finishg touches and then drive it to the painters :grinpimp::cool:

what am I going to have to do with my life now that the cruiser doesnt demand all of my free time???:crybaby:

I suppose I will drive it....alot.

There are a lifteme amount of trails up here that need to be driven!

But im definately stoked to drive it :bounce:

Ill update with pics tonight and tmrow.

Done?

From what I have read on here and the people I have talked to I figure no one is ever DONE with there fj40. You will find something to fix/put on it.

Paul

well we started yesterday at 11am and stopped about 11pm ish.....

pretty much ready to drive...my mom came out and said we couldnt run the engine anymore because it was too loud that late.....and we didnt want to take it for its maiden voyage in the dark...and without doors and the outside temp at about 10-20F it wouldnt have been that much fun.

We finished and bled the brakes (going to do it one more time, becuase I think there is still a bit of air.

Cut the rest of the tub, and put the tranny hump on (still needs to be welded for cosmetic reasons...)

Re-timed the engine...put on the new pretty MSD plug wires

I also finally got around to making a inner shackle (the origonal one is MIA) and then put that on.,,,

Greased most of the greasable joins (finishing that up today)

Put on the driveline

Did the Mini truck PS conversion, and hooked it all up
(the asshats that pulled the bracket off an old chevy at the junk yard, only grabbed one part of the bracket, so the pump isnt mounted yet)

Fixed the issues with the coolant flow....so now its all good.

Lifted the tranny and T-Case and put the rubber pucks in (now that the tub is cut, they actually fit!) and then bolted down the t-case.

In my book it was a good amount of work for one day, and practically set us up for the test ride,,,,

On todays schedual

CLEAN everything!

Im going to finish greasing....

Tighten everything down that might have been skipped in the dark

Put on all the body panels (fender and hood)

Take pictures :)

Put the seats back in

Re-bleed the brakes until firm, and do a running test of the booster.

and then depending on how dark it is out we might fit in the drive, but otherwise thatll be later in the week...no reason to rush things right? ;p:D

Ill put up some pics when I get all the body panels on later today.
