Remember how one of the very first things I purchased for the truck was some drawers? Well it was finally time to install them. Here are my pros and cons:
Pros: These things are very heavy duty, they roll extremely smooth, and it fits in the truck really snugly without any rattling or squeaking. Color looks good and they go together pretty easily. Rings for mounting straps are solid.
Cons: The boxes are universal and so there is some drilling required on the rails to line up with the 80. Not the end of the world but pulling the box in and out to drill the holes is a bit of a pain. The second issue is the drawers don’t latch open, meaning that if you are parked at any bit of a decline, they will slide back closed. Third is that the latches scrape against the lift gate and will yank the top trim piece off unless you hold the latch open all the way until the drawer is fully open. The finish work could be a little nicer as you will see in the second photo.
All things being said, I am happy with the purchase although there are a few annoyances with it. I love that I am able to tuck away my tools and know that they will be safe from flying into us if we ever get into an accident. I may someday opt to get an aftermarket fridge slide as this puts the cooler way too high up and I have to climb onto the lift gate to see into it...
