That's about what I get with my 3b... a little better at slower speeds, maybe 23. Rig is looking good!
Same here. As soon as I push 60 it goes down.

The B made it back home from SAS with no issues. The whole trip was 2,077 miles round trip. The only issues I had with the motor was in high elevation. It blew blue smoke but never let me down.
Black Bear was finally done on this trip. I had previously been 0-4 due to it being closed.

The only damage done was to the front bumper support. I followed @beno through a creek that had a solid rock bank. I didn't have the approach line correct and slammed the bumper and spring hanger into the rock. It didn't bend the bumper but somehow jarred it enough to pop the rivets out.

Trail Tailor is closing out his stock of bumper supports, he has a limited supply. A pair (bare steel) for $55.

I know the crossing, I remember @rhah's crossing at that same spot.

Thanks. I'll see if he still has some. It will go nice with the Trail Tailor bumper in the front.

Some mileage stats from my trip. It seems I always put around 12 gallons in when filling up. At some point I want to really figure out the range of the truck but restroom breaks seem to happen sooner so I just fill up at the same time.

19.9 Hwy
19.6 Hwy
21.2 Hwy
18.8 Hwy
19.4 Stoney pass
6.4 Engineer, Black Bear, Imogine. All high elevation. I really don't know why this tank was such crap.
23.3 Hwy heading down out of elevation
27.3 Hwy heading down out of elevation
18.5 Hwy

I changed oil yesterday and switched from Rotella T6 to T4. Since I plan to change it every 3k it doesn't make sense to spend the extra for synthetic on an old tired engine. Also I have a rear main leak that hopefully will slow down with dino oil.

I got my Trail Tailor @reevesci front bumper supports in. The are very stout and should be a good replacement for the 40 year old stock pieces. Probably a project for next weekend.

Great write-up on this project - I've been to Costa Rica several times and always wanted to bring a vehicle home with me - Now I have a better idea on the steps involved - maybe on the next trip down....

25 degree cold start yesterday morning. I really wish I could fix my glow controller so I can see when to start rather than counting to 15. I just can’t find the correct wire thickness on the coil to make it work properly. I’m still using a glow controller for a 2H. I also notice on cold mornings after glowing that my voltage is down to 9.6V and will have to turn the key a few times to get the starter to engage.

IF you hang some meat in the room it will be smoked by the time you pull out of garage :)
Ha. Yeah it never looks as bad when your in the drivers seat. My 7.3 Ford will do the same thing on cold mornings. Cummins will start with no help of heat with no issues.

My 2F starts good even in a cold weather(I do have electr.ignition)....Sometimes if I let it sit for 3 weeks it is harder to start than in a cold weather...

Just read through your whole thread. Awesome job! Seeing those pics of your rigs on Imogene Pass was the icing on the cake. Very cool.

I should probably steal the block heater off the 3B I have sitting in the garage.

My 3b used to smoke like that before I replaced the glow plugs. It doesn’t much at all now... I wonder if you’re getting proper glow?
Replaced the glow plugs last year and system tested fine. I do need to test it again and make sure but I’m pretty sure it’s just age at this point.
