This thread is awesome to read! Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.
Have another 84 BJ60 that has some decent rust, I am excited to attack the rust for a project... Might have to pick your brain one day.

hey Pete , me and Fred when we worked at prevost few years ago , we were used to work on impressive paint jobs .
For that kind of finish i suggest you to paint everything with 3 coats of the brown tone , let it dry and laid one thin coat of black , next you wet sand by hand with a 400 grit on a soft block , it is similar technic as guide coat on primer .
the thin black coat will be easy to sand off on large an curvy pannel but it will show on all the nook and cranny , stop to sand when it look like you want to and next is a flat clear coat to finish it .

Thanks Jim, was kinda gonna follow that process for paint. I keep forgetting you and Fred worked there, its funny i just got off the phone with him ! Maybe i"ll get you guys down here. lol :steer: :hmm: :p

After many hours of sanding and more sanding and scuffing of poly primer things are finally ready to hang up, seal and Paint !!!! :bounce2:
After Too many hrs spent sanding and scuffing i have decided to scrap my idea of a faded and flat finish as i'm am running out of time for the finish on this rig. :( Too much time would be needed to make a proper looking fade finish as there are Way too many edges or body lines to deal with. :worms: so…. she's gonna be full brown with a clear finish and maybe just a small two tone of black .. and a nice scratch finish once i hit the trail ! hi,hi

Got all the parts hung and waiting on the wheather to warm up a bit ( still snow here ) and……

I can't figure how to put up pics anymore so i guess ya'll gonna have to imagin' she's purdy, :bang:

Wicked fab work! I like the extra storage under the rear seat.

A bit more progress….

P.S. If anybody knows what that little box is over the brake booster, please chime in,

:beer::beer:

Yeah, is usually mounted inside the fender, and is a small step down converter 24-12v for oem radio. One or two amps, so not worth much...

Nice work you're doing here!
