On the rear of your pig, the two red circlular things at the bottom, below the back up lights- are yours reflectors or lights?

Mine are lights, but was also orignially from AUS. Just wondering... I keep hearing them refered to as reflectors.

Anyway- mine are dual filament light bulbs, but so far the only light up when I have the head lights on, I don't think the function as brake lights as well.....

How many wires go to them?

Haven't dug that deep yet. I was changing out all the bulbs while at the auto parts place and just thought this was normal. So, I didn't think anything of it, until I started hearing you guys call them reflectors and seeing pictures of them on the web. Mine stick out 2 inches from the body, most seem to be flat.

My lenses are pretty cloudy though, I was going to look into trying to find a replacement.

Best pic I could find at the moment:

Yep, reflectors here too. Never seen that type before.

I don't have them, but mine were obviously reflectors. Maybe we should make something cool to put there, like a round badge with a custom FJ55 logo :D

I remember reading a thread in which it said that the Aussie piggies had lights instead of the reflectors. I believe there was even a diagram on the DIYTOYO site?

Ok, I just measured the pad where the reflector goes. It looks like it is 4" in diameter. I have 4 mounting holes, is that the same on all your rigs? How were the original reflectors held on? Can you access the back of the pad, from the cargo area?

mine has four holes, and there is an access patch w/screws on the lower left/right rear just a tab bit higher than the mounting pad.....Is this a hijack? Oh-and mine were reflectors. I'd like 55 badges.....

Yes, They were all fitted as lights down here.
They do light up well at night, and let motorists behind you really know your in front!
They are only park lights, never seen them come on with the brake lights, but shouldnt be hard to wire up, and again will let people behind you really know your stopped, and hopefully prevent someone from running up your bum.
They come from an Australian Design Rule (ADR) at the time which states that rear parking lights had do be a certain distance off the gound - the other ones higher up the body were too high, so they had to also put some lower. (this is still the case with cars like the Prado and Mitsu Pajero with high mounted lights, they also have additional lights down in the bumperbar to meet the ADR)
Another ADR is that rear Indicators have to flash orange, hense the fact we have a orange/red lense up high.

I have one of those. I bought it a few years ago with some stuff from Australia...thought I was buying a reflector.

If you want to sell the lense, or the whole thing, let me know. My lenses are pretty cloudy.

I found some nearly identical red LED (they also had amber) marker lights at the local Cal-Ranch store. When I say "nearly" I mean they were off by about 1/4" in diameter. I don't know if they'll work or not, but I think I"ll try them and see if they will fit. I'd love to have LED's for longevity, and some new (clearer) lenses would be nice.
