You have MAD gasket making skills!! I need to attempt this for my rear brake lights and front parking lights for my 1969. Just need to figure out where to get the materials. I have a sharp knife but not sure about the patience.
Thanks man, It feels pretty rad!Awesome! Bolting that first part back on a fresh paint job has to be exhilarating!
Thanks a lot, they are a bit crude but should serve their purpose well enough. You have MAD gasket making skills!! I need to attempt this for my rear brake lights and front parking lights for my 1969. How long ago did you buy the tail light gaskets from SLO? I’ve been checking every now and then but always seems like out of stock. I bought a bunch of other rubber from him. I need the vent windows too. My originals have been soaking in a bag of VLR for about a month since they were very brittle and it looks like I may need to reuse them.I bought new gaskets for the stop/tail/turn lights from Slocruiser.com.
I received those back in early August. IDK, I'm not in love with the pair that I got. I'm not complaining or anything and I'm super greatful that I got a pair but honestly I think that the quality of them is a little underwhelming. The price I paid wasn't bad i just hoped that the fitment would've been better. The drivers side is acceptable but the passenger is too bulky. Ah…I see that now. Some of the rubber I got from SLO looks really good but the vent window rubber was not. I ended up sending them back to John who was great for the refund. So I have been trying to recondition the originals I have.I think that the quality of them is a little underwhelming.
The best way that I can describe the rear light seals that I received was that they looked as if someone had made a mold from an old seal and then filled that mold with black silicone. Is that what you experienced as well?Ah…I see that now. Some of the rubber I got from SLO looks really good but the vent window rubber was not. Dang it... That's not cool. Probably looks better by going without anyway.Had the same situation on my taillight seals. My passenger was not even usable after I sent the first one I got back for a replacement. I couldn’t live with just one seal installed so I removed them both.
Yep. That exactly what I thought about the vent seals. They were oddly not good especially compared to the other items I bought from SLO.The best way that I can describe the rear light seals that I received was that they looked as if someone had made a mold from an old seal and then filled that mold with black silicone.
