Hey 86, welcome to Mud, should be lots of good info for you here.

You will want to (and need to) use the 5 speed that is with the HZ.
The 5 speed is the best thing you can do for any 60 series.
The input shaft is specific to the diesel engine, much finer spline than what you have on the 4 speed gas tranny.

For the AC, they can be a bit of unobtainium. I got mine from G&S in BC, you could try Mike at west coast cruisers as well, they are both great to work with.

Good luck!

i have a 1986 landcruiser i am trying to put the 1 hz in. i have the 5 speed trans attatched. will the trans out of the gasser work or should i use the 5 speed. where can i get one those ac mountig brackets.

Just to clarify a touch for Kevin....

Depends on which 5 speed you have attached to your 1HZ. If it's an H55f: definitely use it. If it's the R151f, then I'd start looking for an H55f to mate to your 1HZ (which is different than the H55f that mates to the F, H, and B engines).

There's a decent amount of info about the 1HZ/H55f situation here. The difference between the "different" H55fs is the input shaft. That should set you on the path to search heaven.

But enough hijacking Kevin's thread.... start your own! Then we can see pictures of exactly what you've got and stuff.
