Got the seat back from my guy. Looks perfect. Nice and firm.

In a stunning turn of events, the owner has decided to sell MS Red again. No garage space and just could not sit and watch it get ruined in the weather.

So I got it back and I'm going to tidy up a few things I wanted to do before and make this thing even better.

First thing first......paint.

s***!! Even swap for Dusty?🤪

One thing this thing has is either a rear main leak or rear oil pan.

The PO had a new clutch put in and I did not take it out when I installed the 5 speed and where I had it parked I never saw a leak but after I got it all together and drove it some the leak showed up so put it comes for repair. Can't be selling a leaky 60.

do yourself a favor and make a plate with a scrap transmission mount that bolts to your transmission jack, makes it so much easier and safer

Great idea but most I take out don't have crossmembers but I may have wizard make me one for 60s.

I got sidetracked the last few days picking up a 60, moving a hard top to my painter and servicing my duramax.

Turns out the rear main was new and dry as a bone.

I added some FIPG to the gasket under the cap hoping that would fix it.

No dice. All of the oil was coming out the cap bolt which is not in the motor so the oil was migrating to it.

Had to be the gasket.

Also, Mosley recommended I clearance this on the oil pan because the new pans tend to hit the oil pump and it makes it hard to make a seal.

Also, the jackass mechanic used a 4 piece gasket which was likely the issue. These things are s***. Don't use them.

OEM only.

I used a generous amount of copper gasket spray, a tip I picked up from @orangefj45

I just filled it back up with Valvoline 20/50. I'll check in the morning to see if I fixed this issue.

What part number is that oil pan?

I went back and looked at my own ref pics to make sure you didn’t have a 3FE pan but you’re good. That’s a 2F pan

Cam says he has to clearance all of them.

When I put the pan on with no gasket and not clearanced the pan "rocked" on that point.

Once cut it laid on the block evenly.

Make sense?

In my experience when the oil leak is dripping from the passenger side bolt head there, the leak is the rear cam plug behind the bell housing. Yeah, not fun to replace.
It was the s*** box 4 piece gasket and I'll fitting pan. All good now. No leaks.
