You really do have a spectacular cab, Ben.

Not much to show for my week so far. Spent the first couple of nights in front the wire wheel cleaning up hardware before it goes to the metal platers.

all the little stuff counts, it looks awesome. wish i had a platers near me. keep it up.

Tonight I decided to temporarily install the door hinges and hang the doors. Not the easiest job in the world to do on your own.

The good: All the bolts fitted and none threads seemed to be stripped. I'm also pretty confident with a bit of screwing around that I should be able to get pretty even gaps. I managed to get the doors opening and closing pretty well.

The bad: The bottoms of the doors are a bit nasty. Not terminal, but they are going to require some pretty extensive surgery. Having said that, the rust on the outside of doors could be worse.

Nut polishing! I salasticed the door hinges into place over the weekend. What a bastard of a job aligning doors on your own is. I then pulled the cab to bits again and gave the windscreen hinge and the wider motor cover hardware a bit of a polish on the buffer.

QUESTION: Can anyone tell me if the windscreen wiper arms were painted entirely black when they left the factory. This is a picture of mine, the underside is black and the top is raw stainless steel. So I wondering if this is the way they came. Or if they were all black and the paint has worn off over the years. Any idea?

Ben my old wiper arms looked like yours. When I went to order them from Toyota they had both the silver and black available.

Yours started out black and after 30+ years the finish has been fried by exposure.

Hello Gents, Thanks for helping solve another Landcruiser riddle. In that case I will paint them black..............or perhaps silver.........probably black.

Not much to report. I have been finishing up little jobs before I move onto more paint stripping and rust repairs. I knocked up some rubber gaskets for the bonnet hinges. Total cost $6.30 and I have enough rubber left over for about another 15 Land Cruiser restorations. Either that or I can use the left over rubber to sow myself a pair of tight fitting black rubber shorts and start hanging around in bars.

The windscreen wiper motor was looking a little neglected. So I gave it a quick clean and stuck some fresh grease in it then and attacked it with a rattle can. Hopefully this will keep the rust at bay for a bit longer.

PART NEEDED: G'day Aussie Mud Mates, I come cap in hand. This small splash guard bolts up under the radiator. It is pretty well knackered. I have been hunting for a replacement for a couple of years without success. If anyone has one hanging around the shed that they want to part with please drop me a line. I would be forever grateful. Cheers,

Ben
